My god people, think of the children!!!! Every parent or partner should be carrying protection everywhere they go. I can't believe how unAmerican the Disney Co. is in it's blatantly unconstitutional actions therefore endangering all of our innocent children. Only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun. Wake up people!!!!
I just hope you are kidding, for your sake....

Where I come from, nothing I said would even be questioned. Just a hardy round of "Hell Yeah!" (Sound of celebratory gunfire)

They were right to stop him from entering the park, but I don't see a reason to celebrate stopping nothing from happening. Carrying a weapon and firing one are two very different things. When they effectively stop something bad from happening, should it happen (hopefully not), that's when they'll earn my respect.

All they did really was enforce company policy in this case. Could have been a selfie stick, for all I care. If it's not allowed, it's not allowed. Really though, they didn't prevent anything bad from happening, just created the illusion they did.

EDIT: That said, security is a serious matter and I'm glad they show zero tolerance.

This makes no sense. We have no indication what the guy's intent was either way. So they could have prevented something bad from happening.

It's such a weird set of goal post considering the best outcomes is for the bad thing to never get started, not containment once it has.

People must also consider that the detectors can serve as a deterrent. One who may be planning an attack could be turned away by the fact of knowing that they may be selected.
They are not a deterrent. A planned attack just plans for the screening.

Right. I know they don't prevent everything. Or most things. What I am asking is, I guess, do they prevent some things? If the answer is yes, then I think it's a useful tool. If the answer is no, then remove it all.
What attack was prevented by such screenings? Yes, they catch the scarily abscent minded and stupidly macho, but it's still just through chance and is not the same as stopping an attack.
