Standing, untreated water does. Mist does. Water alone does not.
I'll take your word for that, however, it seems to me that any movement of water will create mist in some form or the other, even evaporation is really movement of water particles. Boats constantly riding through will create waves which in form, even though not visible to the naked eye, will create it's own field of mist. Boats corrode and they are submerged in moving water.

Right, and regular maintenance (not tri-annual) keeps it from causing much of an impact.

Also, the key is TREATED...and by that, I don't mean potable.

It seemed like Disney did more preventative maintenance back in the day & there seemed to be more rehabs. Generally in the off-season. When we had an off-season.

The flip side to that is when you have 50-60k guests a day going to MK, they're going to want to ride POTC, HM, iasw, etc. A lot are first time/ once in a life time guests and they want to ride that one ride.

Disney can't win either way, but when things are ignored/pushed back over and over, they run into problems like the way POTC is today.

The best example to support your theory in my mind is Splash before the major rehab. Those tarps. Oy. The final straw of the neglected mountain.

When it happens once, but not again later in the ride from the same "general place" I spied it before, I give it a pass. That's just someone not thinking and forgetting to turn the auto-flash off...anyone can have a derp moment.

But, when it's every show scene, from the same "car" or "buggy"...that annoys me. That's just blatant selfishness and disrespect.

I saw someone taking flash pictures of the movie in France. The screen washed out completely blank every time, and he must have taken a whole roll (this was a number of years ago, when taking pictures still cost money). His friend suggested turning off the flash, but " of *course* you need the flash. It's *dark*." I would have loved to have been there when he got them developed.

Me too.

I actually have flash turned off as the default on most of my cameras.

Not that I'm any "photographic expert", I'm not, but I do find that natural lighting or ambient lighting is far better than splish splash flash!

I don't get how the Jungle Cruise and the Haunted Mansion can looks pristine and fresh and modern... and POTC looks terrible. CC @marni1971
Mansion gets a bit of special treatment.

The JC isn't too hard to do - love the AAs and the foliage does a lot by itself.

Having said that the dock was last replaced because it was literally falling apart.

Which is not correct whatsoever.

It was a money issue. In order to bring the parade up to show spec it would've cost 6-7 figures is what I was told.

Without blowing my source, The floats would have been easily able to be brought back up to spec if they wanted to spend the money.

thanks for the explanation... so if I'm understanding this correctly.. it was working before they put it backstage...and with it sitting backstage it gets to the point of then needing 6-7 figures to bring it back to show spec?

If that's true... then it must have had neglect/issues while sitting backstage I would assume or wasn't stored the way it really should have been perhaps?

It's a shame regardless... I would like to see a next-gen light parade in the future for WDW

Nah, its budgets and over-exaggeration. Never put it beyond people to frame things to get what they want.

The electrical work would have been the large price.

Of course a million dollars is easily found in parking revenues.

Ah, yes. Phil Holmes and his little love interest. Well, I'm not complaining. Whatever gets the job done.

Only a company that was run by morons would do something that utterly stupid.

No, what decent companies do that operate mechanical operations that wear over time is to keep sufficient spare parts on hand for those components known to wear. Known wear is an easily calculated function. Those components are replaced before they reach the point of not being able to fulfil their proscribed function. It appears that Disney is no longer following this type of protocol.
