No, what decent companies do that operate mechanical operations that wear over time is to keep sufficient spare parts on hand for those components known to wear. Known wear is an easily calculated function. Those components are replaced before they reach the point of not being able to fulfil their proscribed function. It appears that Disney is no longer following this type of protocol.
Right, also they make additional soarin and Toy story show buildings... in no one's world should this be good news.

They're not building a new Soarin theater just for the sake of building one. It's for extra capacity for the new Soarin' video they're putting in and converting all theaters to digital. As for Toy Story it needs the extra capacity. Period. Besides rumors are afoot about new attractions/lands in HS.

Rumors have been "afoot" for years...and the first signs of construction have still not begun.
It is going to be years before anything changes there...well except price increases...they will still happen annually.

They wouldn't need to expand either of these attractions if there was something else open to alleviate the wait times. Epcot Innoventions West, WOL, UOE,Imagination, Odyssey. Unfortunately all waste of space and need to be used properly instead of just sitting there. DHS basically the whole back half is basically barren of anything. If there were other things to do these attractions wouldn't need to be expanded. Also rumors IMHO should be taken with a grain of salt as there were plenty of great ones that have yet to see the light of day and unfortunately may never will. I hope for the best and truly wish things are happening, but look at Pixar Play Place why hasn't that started if the Backlot Tour has been closed for months now. Rant over lol

The cheap and completely wrong way to fix crowd issues.

High capacity, new attractions trump expand current ones. Besides rumors are just that. Walls everywhere and they're not even breaking ground. Some of these actual new attractions are most likely not going to be finished for 5 years.

You know what I find funny with recent news? In order to give DHS more kid friendly things to do we're getting TSPL with some switched out rides and an expanded TSMM according to rumors. Universal seems to have the same goal with USF, but they'll be using Nintendo and from what I've read of what insiders are saying it seems their plans are much more substantial.

The difference is staggering.

We should be grateful for our dear sweet Willow and all that she does for Disney.

Join me in my new campaign to rename one of WDW's treasures: #WillowBayLake
The only lake that smells like Dagobah and is deep enough to hide anything.
...that deep meaning...

Not sure if you are agreeing with me or not. I don't see the connection between proactive attraction maintenance and building new show buildings to expand existing attractions (which, for the record, I don't believe should be at the top of the priority list for capital expenditure).

You all are going to accuse me of being a pixie duster but all I hear is doom and gloom.

Re: Soarin', they just completed filming their new movie and it's in production. Are they not supposed to be forward thinking abut one of their most popular attractions? Let me tell you what I see. Let's say they developed Odyssey or whatever. You would accuse them of letting Soarin' languish.

But maybe I am entitled to little pixie dust since I'm there. Or am I supposed to wallow in misery and be Grumpy about everything?

What does the new Soarin' film, not expected to debut until after Shanghai Disneyland opens, have to do with Pirates of the Caribbean being allowed to rot?

Excellent question as I was responding off a rant about it and TSMM. You're asking the wrong person.

Building the new Soarin' theater is happening on its own timeline independent of the new film. Those projects are things that impact decision making on where to spend money.

Oh I agree. Maintaining their key attractions is something they failed at.
