Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

I want all you folks to know the reason Disney leaves the light poles in front of the castle is to block your perfect picture. Disney has trademarked the pictures and they are the only ones that want the perfect picture shot. It is a business and they do sell these pictures. You would think as much money as you pay to go to the park that you could have a perfect castle shot. But they have offset the light poles making it virtually impossible for you to get a center pic without a lamp pole in the way. That is why the lamp poles are T-style lamp poles. It is a slick way for Disney to block your perfect view of the castle. Every picture I took this summer was interfered by the T-style poles. Do not let them fool you. If they were concerned about lighting they would have put the normal straight style lamp poles but it is not about the lighting at all. Disney has been making poor choices for quit some time. I am sad to say this was our third trip and things seem to be getting worse. They brought in a bunch of contractors and put a bunch of rude people to replace the former workers who were doing a very good job. If you are planning a trip to Disney, it used to be magical. Maybe you could consider replacing Disney with Universal. Universal will let you take pictures of their castle.
LOL, if you truly believe that I will sell you my 20K sub.

There can't be much more left to do is there?

There are basically three areas left for them to complete:

- finish the bridges, control towers and the pavement directly in front of the castle
- finish the section between the Adventureland and Liberty Square bridges
- replace any existing red concrete in the hub area

I imagine most of the above work will be done by the first MNSSHP on the 15th of Sep. Maybe the stage area will be done by NoJ?

Is it just me, or does it seem like Disney is actually kicking their construction crews into high gear. The hub work is finishing up, tons of cranes can be seen at AK, they threw up that structure by Norway pretty quick, they threw up that flex theater pretty quick.. It just seems like things are finally moving along faster than a snale's pace.

Construction almost always looks like a lot of fits of moving quickly to doing nothing back to moving back to nothing in photographs from outside the construction site.

Nice pics. By my count, 2 to 3 more live oaks should be making their way into the area once work has finished (2 in the planter where the temporary tech booth is located, and likely one more next to the food/beverage hut). And they really went all in on using foliage to screen the Tomorroland buildings from the hub.

It annoys me that the new walkways obviously are a different shade of tan.

I don't think they are. More like the Florida sun has already faded the older sections. In a month or two, everything should blend nicely.

Yeah, sadly I agree. The castle needs to be better framed.

Are more trees coming perhaps?

Not along Main Street. What's needed are larger trees in the center hub planters, but highly unlikely we ever see that done. Basically the current view down Main Street is the final product in terms of foliage.

Expect to see more trees planted along the uncompleted sections of the outer ring though.

(sniped from Facebook)

It seems the walls are significantly lower this morning.
