Right, and a vacation at WDW is all about logic.Using your logic absolutely nothing should ever be removed (or in this case MOVED) from the parks. Because it could be "tradition" to someone somewhere. Do you realize how silly that is? Nothing would ever change.
I rarely agree with @WDW1974 but hell, maybe walking to the back of the park before consuming a massive cinnamon roll might do some WDW guests good.
There are plenty of changes made at MK all the time. Many guests simply don't care or notice those changes. As I've suggested in the past, Main Street USA and Cinderella's Castle are theme park "holy ground" and perhaps the only places at WDW where Disney needs to exercise care when making changes.
Please recall the emotional firestorm created when the MSUSA Starbuck's was announced. Nobody cared about the one going in at Epcot; it was all about the MSUSA location. The firestorm was so strong Disney had to announce a clarification. During that firestorm, time and again, WDW fans repeatedly expressed concern about the cinnamon rolls, to the point that Disney needed to issue a statement to the effect that the menu at the "Main Street Bakery" had not been determined.
Disney's entire business model is built around creating an emotional response in its customers. Without cinnamon rolls, some fans won't view it as the "Main Street Bakery" but as the "Starbuck's that caused cinnamon rolls to disappear from Main Street USA". Very possibly, some will feel betrayed. Sure, several months ago Disney claimed the menu was undecided but, in their hearts (in other words, where Disney makes its money), some will feel betrayed by the apparent deception, perhaps believing all along that Disney never intended to bring back cinnamon rolls. Effectively, they might feel they were lied to.
Finally, if Disney was concerned about the health of its guests, it would eliminate about 90% of its menu. Walking an additional thousand feet is not going to make any appreciable difference.
