MagicBands WILL become a thing...

I'll happily have one of these bands if it stops me having to worry about carrying my card round with me. It doesn't look any different to the sort of thing you wear when on an all inclusive holiday & assuming they are waterproof & you can use them for dining, entry, charging etc I see no problem at all.

i remember my parents packing in extra camera film back in the 70s and 80s....they never wanted to pay the "Uncle Walt tax" on film in WDW. For some reason, that was their biggest deal, for whatever reason.

I see nothing wrong with packing stuff in, but we limit it to filter water bottles (refill at sinks) and easily packed energy snacks

To each their own.

I, for one, applaud the back-pack toting, stroller-pushing, souvenir-laden, tempest-tossed huddled masses yearning to breathe free. It is their slowness of speed that allows my family to breeze past, with all our worldly goods occupying a small crossbody purse and a few cargo shorts pockets, and beat them to the head of every line.

On a more serious note, I don't judge anyone who is trying to save money. I do not buy the logic that, simply because a Disney vacation costs a lot, anyone who attempts to save a few dollars here and there is being "penny wise and pound foolish." My parents took me to WDW several times as a child -- always on a shoestring, drive-down-in-an-old-van-and-sleep-in-a-leaky-popup-camper budget where every penny counted. We brought all of our own food and never spent a dime on food or drinks in the parks, and we saved hundreds of dollars on every trip because of it. We needed those savings, because even though my parents were a pair of hard-working teachers, paying for park tickets and a campground site were all we could afford in those days. We still had an unbelievably awesome vacation every time -- even if my mother's bulging purse was full of bologna sandwiches, warm cans of TAB and sweet upstate New York apples, instead of cash for souvenirs. :D

Well, that would be my family. We are about as back-pack toting, stroller-pushing, souvenir-laden, tempest-tossed huddled masses as you can get!! Last trip we had a 2 year old and an 11 month old (who loved every single darn minute). However, traveling with a two year old who wants everything, we tend to pack turkey sandwiches instead of buying lunch so that we can buy her an extra souvenir or two! And by the way.. I totally miss New York Apples!

So another viewpoint. I have absolutely no problem with people toting backpacks, or pushing massive double strollers around, until - they run into me. I had one stroller pusher hit me FIVE times last week in less than a minute when going through the POC queue!!! I asked him (very nicely I might add, even though I was now limping) if he was done, and only received a glare in response. He did NOT apologize, and I ended up with a bruise on the back of my leg! He was speaking English to his wife, so I know he understood me. He just didn't care. If it is only one time, no big deal, it happens, and I get on with life, but multiple times from the same person?!?!?! I have also had those backpack toting people whack me with them when they get on or off the buses, in a queue, or going through a store, because they didn't realize how much it was sticking out behind them. I have yet to hear an apology from any of them. They just move on like I should get out of their way.

Again, I have no problem if people bring them into the parks to save money, none whatsoever, but PLEASE be considerate of the other guests. Oh, and I don't let ANY of this ruin my vacation, ever!

Rant over. Flame away.

Nothing to rant over or be flamed for.
Sounds like a big pile of common sense to me.
Nobody wants to have their heels clipped even once, by a double wide or be knocked down with a gigantic backpack.
My husband is a giant, and folks are often distracted looking at him and plow right into me. Our modified method of dealing with crowds is to walk in single file. Him first, then me, then our sons. That way, the only way to knock me down is to get through all 6' 8" - 265 lbs of him first. Now that our boys are both 6' 4", it's almost like I'm bubble wrapped. I can't see a bloody thing, but I'm not eating pavement anymore.

Yes, yes. We know you scoff a lot.

But just HOW will you be scoffing? That is what we don't know. The scoffing isn't very interesting without knowing how it is done.
I will continue to scoff at all of you who are penny wise and dollar foolish, ie "We're blowing thousands of dollars on a week at WDW, but by GOD we're saving on those $2.50 bottles of water".

I will continue to scoff at all of you who are "scared" of those big time "thrill" rides at WDW, ie "I went on <fill in the blank> when I was a little kid and I'm STILL scared to go on it even though it was 20 years ago."

I will continue to scoff at all of you who are upset that Disney will "track" you with a bracelet, when you are being "tracked" in so many ways by so many entities, organizations, retailers and companies, ie "I don't want Disney to know that I bought a <fill in the blank> at <fill in the blank>. Of course I used a credit card to pay for it, but surely they aren't "tracking" me that way." I picture such people logging onto the internet, believing that they are anonymous, going to some shopping site and trying to shove dollar bills into their modem to pay for their purchases.

But hey, enough of all that; let's gripe some more about the broken Yeti and about the demise of Horizons.

The bottles of water and soda are cheaper at the mouse than they are at Universal, up the road.

Amen. We've spent many a night in a pop-up, back 'in the day' when Mickey was toting a musket! All of our children have just as many fond memories from when we were 'roughing it', versus how we visit the Magic Kingdom these days . A toasted marshmello tasted just as good with Chip and Dale as it does now at Bay Lake Tower..... Just sayin :)

Just a suggestion, next time let the stroller wielding varmint get in front of you. It will save on confrontation and give you the opportunity to step on his heel (with a profuse apology, of course) :)
