I honestly don’t know but my guess would be that it would have been a marketing event ahead of the 30th (it would most probably have been the largest fireworks in France for New Year’s Eve) but also simply to show that Disney is back like never before after two difficult years... once again, these are my guesses only
Its really sad hearing this but according to studies the Omicron variant isnt as lethal as the Delta Variant was, Its just the Omicron has a faster pace with its spread, Furthermore The country that has more people vaccinated , Most of the symptoms would be just Light cases, If you compare from the first phases of spreading to now, you will only hear record daily new cases not Severe nor 💀 numbers.

Looks like it. I thoguht when DLP canceled the NYE Party, that meant everything.
thats what i thought as well, But the purpose of the hard ticket was mainly because of the fireworks since it was rumored to be the biggest one in Disneyland Paris history, I mean when Paris does fireworks they go all out within the entire resort especially the anniversary kickoff versions and if there is a press event.

The 15th Kickoff is still my favorite!

The lady and I were at the parks yesterday, thanks to the invitation of our good friend working there. A few thoughts:

- Show: The parks look good overall, the maintenance is still at a good level. Most effects were working fine, including lift 3 of BTM. The castle rehab is imo a success, as the original vision is not denatured and it's a good and much needed refresher. Orbitron looked good too!

- Paid Fastpass (Lightning lane/Premier Access/whatever) : so we actually tested this with my friend on a few rides, and we are a bit shocked at the usage. Granted, the day was pretty busy.
For Rat, our first ride, the LL queue was more full than the usual Fastpass queue! The standby was at 70'. We waited around 10'.
After a ride on Catastrophe Canyon (+some garbage), we went to ToT also through LL. Posted standby 60'. Here the LL queue was almost empty, 5-10 ppl, we immediately got in the library.
We then went to the actual theme park and tried it on PM, posted standby 35'. 4-5 ppl in the LL.
Last LL of the day was BTM were it was also heavily used, we were in the train after a bit more than 5' due to where the queue merges in.

Overall, I've noticed that the tipping point around 50'-60' standby, and mostly on family rides. The return times were within the next 30 min max, usually you could return instantly. The impact on standby was very noticeable on family rides, and less so on the more thrilling rides.
I've overheard a few guests ask questions about this new queue to CMs and to my surprise, they were actually ok what the idea that yeah, that queue is a paying add-on.

- App usage: the app was heavily advertised at the turnstiles so I've seen a lot of people on it. Obviously to also try and sell more paid Fastpass. I've overheard some discussions like a kid asking his mom whether she was able to book their spots for the Lion King show, and the mom surprised that this feature was not for COVID purposes but that it was also actually chargeable.

- Friendliness of CMs: maybe it was because I was recently in Port Aventura, but woaw I once again was so pleasantly surprised by how kind, patient and accommodating the CMs were. They really made our day so much better. Even when our friend had to go and it was just the lady and I, they were regardless extremely friendly.

We had a good day, only disappointment was of course the canceled entertainment (Illuminations...) and that the latest Christmas parade was during daytime (16:45).

Is the restoration of the Mark Twain cancelled?

Despite the ongoing and extensive refurbs throughout the rest of the park, we haven't heard or seen anything about it yet.

I have just been watching the new video by DSNY Newscast which is raising a topic that has also been going through my mind over the last couple of months. It is about how Disney is doing announcements of new attractions years in advance while other parks tend to wait until construction is in an advanced stage. Examples include the VelociCoaster at Universal Orlando which was only officially announced less than a year before its opening.

While I enjoy those D23 announcements or from other Disney fan events, the wait until those attractions are actually opening has by far become way too long. Plus the frustration with the usual cancelations and Disney sometimes overpromising what they will actually deliver. This includes DLP as well with e.g. the Iron Man coaster having been announced at D23 Expo Japan in 2018 - 4 years before its opening.

Of course, things in big corporations can always change and Covid currently has a major factor on those delays and cancelations. Though I think Disney should reconsider the way and timing on when they announce new attractions.

I am curious not only about how the D23 announcements will look like later this year but also how you feel about this.

Disney Stars on Parade has returned to the parade route. Notable differences include the removal of "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" from the music of the opening unit, the removal of Crush's dialogue from the Finding Nemo unit, and the addition of the flowery Princesses float from the Pirates and Princesses Festival in lieu of the original three carriages (from Disney Magic on Parade). The steampunk Maleficent dragon seems to be operating in B-mode as well (non-moving mouth and spindle wheel), but still breathing fire.
