It was an amazing concept and plan, imagineers were working on the hotel just like with Disneyland Hotel, not architectural firms like the others. Eddie Sotto was part of the talent behind it and while not a lot is known about the concrete plans, it would've been a mix of an experience and a hotel.

Interesting that the third park would be seemingly quite a distance from the other two parks. Curious to know what the transit plan was/is to move folks to and from en masse.

Epic Universe is far from the other 2 parks and only has the buses as far as I know, so there's no need for anything especial. However, I think a boat connection was planned from the Disney Village using the hotels lake and expanding the canal next to the Sequoia Lodge. By the time the third park opens in Paris we might even fly with drones so we will see 🤣

Early plans of the Resort included a monorail, but I think that’s rather unlikely today. I‘d love a Skyliner connecting the parks and maybe one stop near the hotels. Buses are such a pain to get around

No, I wondered if it had ever appeared on any plan. Something more concrete than a piece of art with a geodesic sphere. Blue sky art is often someone’s interpretation without being based on anything concrete

The difference is that Universal didn’t intend to have three parks from the beginning. The deal for a third gate has always been there and could have been better incorporated into the master plan for Euro Disney.

Yep, exactly my point. With this site having the degree of master planning that went into it, it just seems odd to have placed the third park so far out without a clear design in mind of how to move everyone over there. This is very different than WDW where it was almost a tale of two master plans (planned city vs. theme park destination), whereas the DLP component of the wider development was always designed as the latter.

If I were to play armchair Imagineer, I would have planned the third park to be where the parking lot currently sits, and placed the parking lot where the third park is planned.

Then we would have needed some transport system from the parking lot to the parks, which with the current masterplan hasn't been needed for more than 30 years.

I think the boat is the most likely option since the start portion of the channel heading towards the site of the third park was built at the same time than the hotels. The Disney Village isn't that big, so having to walk through it to get the boat to change parks is not a big deal.

The bottom canal towards the future third gate was even built wider than the top canal towards Cheyenne and Santa Fe, so that supports the theory of boats coming alongside a third gate. However I don’t think it would be nearly as much capacity as needed for people to park hop. The Hotel Lake in Paris is roughly half as wide as the lake between Yacht / Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn at WDW, so the boats can’t really be bigger than the Friendship Boats that travel between EPCOT and DHS. They would need Buses, a Skyliner, a Monorail or something else to meet demand, with Buses definitely being the worse option.

Boats are generally slow. It’s often at least just as fast to walk versus taking the boats at Crescent Lake or Universal Orlando Resort. They’re more leisurely.

Although, instead of wasting open space on parking I’d probably vote for more garages over the train tracks.

EpaFrance has announced some major reworks to the road infrastructure around the resort, this will include the road that goes from Val d'Europe all the way to the other side of the resort by the third park's location. They'll expand the street with more lanes, including a BUS only route that will reduce the public transportation time with little to no traffic. The roundabout at the center of the resort, in Av. Paul Seramy, will also see huge changes, including much better paths to walk from and to the resort and Val d'Europe. The plans are quite up to date and the works are set to begin this year, note all the changes and new buildings included here too from new hotels, a new parking lot, the convention center and new housing.

This is a BIG upgrade. And from my experience of walking between DLP and Serris I don't think that road is currently busy? So clearly furture proofing for forecasted demand.

Out of interest do you know what the three blocks are above the "Serris" label in the map? I know the block above is the convention centre, are these three blocks still Disney (I think they are?) or has this land been sold off for 3rd part development?

Boats wouldn’t offer nearly enough capacity to a 3rd park. It’s worth remembering this canal was built to serve future resorts, not push through to a theme park in one go.

As an aside regarding the widening of the road as mentioned above, some may have noticed the support for the second carriageway bridge that’s been sat in the canal in question since 92. There’s a similarly sat in plain sight unused bridge over the railway just to the west of this plan that I assume will be finally used.

Most definitely. With the latest estimation that the region is set to attract 30 million tourists per year by 2040 (vs the 16 currently) it really does seem Disney and the town is getting ready for some major expansion in the amount of people. When it comes to the plots of land, fairly certain it's still Disney's. A smaller hotel has been set for the block to the left for many years and I think the other two are supposed to have a similar fate.
