Oh boy, is DLP getting the Disney World treatment?
That would ruin my day holy ****. I really hope they're not going for a crappy color scheme
Well, Cinderella Castle already got the DLP treatment (make it pink!). Thank God we don't have to deal with any more "rose gold" nonsense with the eventual castle refurbishment for DLP's 50th in 2042, since you know, the castle's already pink. The worse they could do is to pull a color scheme switcheroo and paint Sleeping Beauty Castle white.

If the artwork on the upper right shows the new paint job, then color me pleased. The roofs seem to be more cerulean than cobalt (2011 refurbishment/recent DLR castle refurbishment), and I think they'll throw in some accents based on the video still seen in the second tweet:

Looks alright, I hope they will keep the grey stones exactly the same color schemes. The overall pastel colors of the castle make it so dreamy and soft

Castle refurb confirmed for January until 30th Anniversary. Presume parks will reopen with castle behind tarps?

Ugh. Paris was on my post-pandemic travel list and now I think I'm going to have to wait. Assuming it's done sometime in March or April of 2022, that's a LONG time for a refurbishment. I think Disneyland's last refurb was only 5 months?

Can't wait to see it though. DLRP deserves all the attention it needs.

It’s possibly mentioned in the video, but they’re going so far as to remove some towers for rebuilding. A la Tokyo.

A worthy note is castle access through at ground level will be mostly maintained. Also of note this has been on-off now for several years. Good to see continued investment in sprucing up the park. Really unprecedented.

Judging from this thread, I think the color of the stonework has stayed the same for every refurbishment. It's only the upper half of the castle that's only been changed considerably, so no need to worry about it.

Yes that's mentionned! They were working on this for 2 years

Will they close the dragon cave and upstairs gallery the whole time too? I'm booked for September.

well, having seen the three colour schemes, I still believe the original one was the best. The roofs were darker (only one remains unchanged since 1992) and the castle was more salmon than pink.

As for the stones, they did change the colours of the stones. they were more grey in the original one compared to what they are now if I remember correctly the last works they did back in 2011.
But whatever they do (except a treatment a la MK 2020) the castle really needs these works. it was in a very bad shape recently (I saw it in August and boy it was sad to look, especially those roofs).

Tom Morris did give his approval to the project director (Tracy Eck), so that's a good sign.

This photo from the 2011 restoration shows that they indeed made the stones more saturated in color, but granted, the original paint has faded since the 1998 repainting of the castle.

The artwork on the left seems to be the concept art for the 2011 refurbishment, so I believe the one on the right shows the new color scheme!

Judging from the new artwork, the pink has definitely been pushed more but the color swatches the person is holding doesn't exactly match the one in the artwork. The swatches seem to be closer to salmon pink in color. I believe Tom (or @Eddie Sotto) has mentioned that the colors of the castle gradually becomes lighter as it goes up, as well as Peggie Fariss (2011 refurbishment project director).

Could a return to the original 1992 color scheme be in the works? My hunch is that the artwork shows the intentional saturated colors that will be painted on the castle that would eventually fade into the colors shown in the swatches.

The art has a graduated colour fade so that is a positive that we won't have the horrific one shade of pink that they have done to MK. Not 100% sold on the royal blue that looks very MK/DL refurbs but at least all of the patterns on the tiles remain in the art.

Here's a closer look at what I think is the concept art for the new color scheme for the castle.

I'm not sure if they are reusing the dark blue tones (recently introduced with the MK/DL castle refurbs) that were introduced in the 2011 repainting. If you compare the art seen above and the 2011 concept art, the new one is lighter in color and I think has more green tones in it.

Yep. I was stood on it only 3 months ago!

Hopefully the new one will be in place in 6 weeks.

Yes, 6 weeks. When Buzz also reopens from its year long closure.

Yes. Year long.
Ugh, I can't wait to be able to hop on a train and go back to Disneyland Paris again. If I were writing my own pandemic version of Human Again, I think that would be in there somewhere!
