Very interesting to watch Disney Village come together.

It looks better than what was there, mainly because what was there was allowed to become so rundown that it looked genuinely bad. The redesign, however, is just giving me such midrange suburban shopping strip vibes. It feels almost like a Disney outlet mall.

I don't know whether part of that is the structures they had to work with were built at the scale of warehouses, so it's difficult to give them much personality beyond nicer warehouses. This is where I'm kind of mixed on this project: it seems like a missed opportunity, but if the other option was demolition and rebuilding from scratch then maybe it was best not to spend their still-limited resources on that.

This is how I feel. Applying brick veneer to the Frank Gehry buildings is really just window dressing that doesn't change the scale and orientation of the buildings, or give it any kind of unique feel.

It looks OK to us now, but will likely just become dated in the future.

Mixed feelings about the design. Disney Springs mall is “anywhere mall” and this so far doesn’t look that good.

I'll take anywhere mall over the incoherent dated mess that was there before. Disney Spring is 10 years old now and still looks good, I can't see it not having another 10 years in it whereas the original Disney Village dated fast.

Where I tend to echo @Animaniac93-98's sentiment that this is likely to date relatively quickly is that it looks very contemporary mall. Not even especially cutting edge, but an outdoor mall that could have opened any time in roughly the past decade.

I think Disney Springs will, at the very least, date a lot more slowly as they have gone more with themed structures. Whether it is to one's taste or not, the main area is Spanish colonial and then you have other themed structures like the Boathouse and Hangar bar. I think it will be more akin to the Marketplace area that has held up a lot better over the years than did, say, Downtown Disney Westside. The new Disney village is fairly straightforward and not especially exceptional contemporary retail architecture.

In general, though, I don't think you will find many people who thinks this looks worse than what Disney Village had become.

Downtown Disney, where you could easily find your way around vs. the current DS mess of paths and walkways? No thanks. But apparently "having more than 150 shops and dining options!!!" is more important than easy wayfinding but only 1/3 the revenue/rent potential. #ThanksBob

Disney Springs is a good time. I enjoy it. I think it’s a great place to go hang out and enjoy.

Personally, I think Downtown Disney, Disney Springs, Ikspiari, Disney Village and Disneytown are not meant to be anything revolutionary. They all look like malls because that's what they are meant to be. Additional shops and restaurants for guests staying onsite and locals. They all have their Disney touches. Ikspiari seems to be the less Disney.

The new Disney Village is looking great. The scale of it is much smaller than Orlando's, so it can't be compared to Disney Springs. Disney Village is basically just a short road with shops/restaurants on both sides, most of them sharing the same building. The new facades are making each of the shops to stand out, unlike before when they were all just one massive block of ugly metal. There are many more Disney touches now than before too. I can't wait to see the whole thing finished!

I do think adding the Gardens of Wonder statues (from the 30th) to Disney Village will help the Disney feel for Disney Village, especially with the kinetics

Is that actually confirmed or just speculation from the concept arts?
It's in the concept art and the planters have been built
