I totally agree.This. MSEP needs to be replaced ASAP. Wishes? Meh...that can wait until the 50th as far as I'm concerned.

End of 2012 I think. I saw it in July 2012 and some nights the timings were....awkward.So I guess Fantillusion must have ended sometime in 2012 or 2013.
Because when updated well somethings are timeless?I don't get why anyone would want Spectro back, whether or not it was a great parade, everyone complains when we don't get new stuff, but want Disney to bring back an old, outdated parade?
It has multi zone parade infrastructure yes. If it could handle a large parade remains to be seen.Does it have the infrastructure?
Unfortunately, I'm not convinced. No nighttime spectacular they've created in the last decade has come close to IllumiNations. And of course, the inexcusable butchering of the Peace on Earth finale in 2014 speaks to that. I truly hope they prove me wrong with Rivers of Light.
I'm well aware who created what. If they can get them back on board for a replacement, then sure, I'd tone down my pessimism. But Disney fawns over Steve Davidson (or whoever he is) and his tacky and garish creations.
IllumiNations just needs major hardware/other tech upgrades. Today's Disney doesn't have the ability to create a replacement as emotionally stirring as the current show.
Yea I don't care for Steve much either.
Ouch. That's an old and rather embarrassing edit. I know there's one or two quotes in there that are wrong, but I assume I said that for a valid reason.According to @marni1971 tribute video to illuminations Steve Davidson also worked on illuminations. @13:32
the mention was Steve did pyro. That's where he really rose to fame in Disney. I agree he's very talented, but I think sometimes his shows rely much more on spectacle over substance and real storytelling - might also be a product of the environment that he has to work in now. I don't know if corporate LEADERSHIP would allow a show like ROE to be produced anymore - not that there isn't talent to do it. I think ROL will be very telling to see if this kind of storytelling is promoted and funded these days.
Lol. I have enjoyed your videos all the time. I haven't found a bad one yet.Ouch. That's an old and rather embarrassing edit. I know there's one or two quotes in there that are wrong, but I assume I said that for a valid reason.
Thank youLol. I have enjoyed your videos all the time. I haven't found a bad one yet.
What butchering? The show was rerecorded. Pyro redesigned. Lighting redesigned. Lasers upgraded. Video redesigned. And of course, the inexcusable butchering of the Peace on Earth finale in 2014 speaks to that.
Butchering as in taking something good enough and dumbing it down. The original narration was more moving and the choir singing gave you chills. Now the narration has no spirit and the choir sounds like something from Wishes. What butchering? The show was rerecorded. Pyro redesigned. Lighting redesigned. Lasers upgraded. Video redesigned.
Maybe WDW will "borrow" Paint The Night for the 45th? Lol. Coincidentally DLs 60th ends around WDWs 45th..
You know, Epcot, doesn't have have to do the holiday tag. They could go back to just doing ROE like they did when ROE came....While the tech enhancements were welcomed (and done well), the rest of the finale is an embarrassing mess. The narrator sounds like a genteel kindergarten teacher giving us a geography lesson. And the new choir sounds like a boring school chorus concert, not a rousing moment reminiscent of a service in a sprawling cathedral. It is a prime example of Disney taking something that didn't need fixing and ruining it in the process.
