That is glimmering, shimmering, carouseling!......:D:cautious:
Exactly. Spectromagic and Fantillusion were perfect for the castle parks. @AJH219 nailed it earlier by saying PTN is a technologically advanced parade but too brash and hip for Main Street. Akin to Block Party Bash in Town Square. Good fun but wrong place.

PTNs bubblegum, glitzy and loud image may work for the eastern audience it was aimed for but it isn't a castle park parade. Many DL veteran friends agree. It won't fit in World Showcase anymore thanks to the promonade clutter that's been allowed to take over. DHS will be a building site. DAK is out.

Take the lessons and take the tech and aim for a 21st century version of Spectro or Fantillusion. With a rousing, classical score to match.

I had this idea (probably won't happen) but MSEP to move back to Disneyland and PTN moving to WDW?
Disneyland paid a lot of money for Paint the night and they love it quite much. Again that parade is not going anywhere and it will be a long while before Disneyland is willing to part with it. Once Msep is done it needs to go into some archive warehouse somewhere and remain there for some time. It needs to retire.

One would really hope that Disney had enough creativity to be able to muster up a new parade instead of a Paint the Night clone... then again... :/

Paint the Night is ok, but no need to reproduce it in every park!
I think paint the night is far from okay it's fantastic. But I agree we don't need it here at WDW. Let it stay a Disneyland exclusive here in the states.

I agree with the music and score working against the parade in the future. I think eventually it's going to date itself painfully in that regard. but I love the energy it brings.

Paint the night is me new favorite parade. It's fun and energetic, pays homage to MSEP, and fits this century. With that said, I don't think it would fit well in MK. Maybe mgm, but not MK. WDW is just not as cool and "hip" as DL, and I feel Ptn fits DL better because it's a "cool" parade. I hope that MK gets a parade similar to ptn, but one that pays homage to spectro. An updated version of spectro would be amazing, and I hope that WDW gets new and unique things, nothing recycled from Disneyland.

I saw it on Tuesday evening and almost half the parade was missing. All of the Tinkerbell unit was out (including the faeries that march in front), all but one of the insects in Alice were missing (is the caterpillar even around anymore?), no Gus or Jacques, and the tent-like structure that goes over the ballroom dancers was out as well. And don't even get me started on the amount of lights that are blown on some of the floats. My grandparents were in town and I was so embarrassed that 1) they had to watch a parade that is as old as my father and 2) a half-baked version of said parade.

After reading this I went out tonight, 01/30/2016 to see for myself. I am pleased to report the parade is in good shape, though not perfect. No major float was missing, but there was only one snail, no turtle, no Caterpiller, and no Mr. Smee Boat. But those are all "tween"s. The CO2 worked on all floats except Elliott. Aside from those things the Parade was fully intact and in good shape. I did not notice any lights out, I am sure some where, but it limited to the point of being rather un note worthy. Gus and Jacques were present and accompanied by two other female mice. Sorry you saw such a bad version, but tonights version was more typically of what I have experienced.

Was the tinkerbell float missing? But yeah, great showing of the parade. I did not consider the parade I saw last night as bad luck. I was actively looking for missing floats and broken parks, had I not been, I may have not noticed. For example, the bee, I did forget about him. My point was dispute rumors, the Magic Kingdom's MSEP is not a shadow of its former self doing a dis service to the Disney Brand nightly. It is in good condition and running well.

good eye!!, Definitively the tinkerbell one was missing!!
Which is interesting.. because once I googled.. It turns that despite going 3 times to WDW since 2013 and visited magic kingdom more than 10 times.... I never seen that float.. EVER..

now I wonder.. was it replaced or removed?

The giant blur fairy float was also missing. But then wiki tells me it ended its run on 2009.

What baffles me that Tokyo seems to be upgrading theirs constantly.. Yet the Magic Kingdom one is.. well.. almost roughly the same since 1985 with minimal changes (as in re-adding older floats )

The Tinkerbell float has definitely not been removed. Sometimes floats are taken out for a single performance due to maintenance or cast call-outs. The Blue Fairy float hasn't appeared in the Magic Kingdom in the last decade, it's been Tink for quite a while.
The thing people often don't understand about Tokyo Disneyland is that it is partially owned by an outside company, which somehow allows for a seemingly unending budget. Therefore, their parades and shows are always in tip top shape and updated every few years. We don't seem to have that luxury in the states, especially WDW, where their patronage mainly relies on out of state tourists who don't normally see a Disney Park, at least not more than once or twice a year, and therefore are easily pleased....at least that's my take on things.

The Blue Fairy Float was replaced with the tinker bell float. The Tinker Bell float still remain and is part of the current parade. It was present in the viewing I speak off. Tokyo's Main Street Electrical Parade, Dream Lights is not the result of them upgrading their parade, it is actually a new parade.

Its not partially owned.... Tokyo Disneyland Resort is 100% owned and operated by the Oriental Land Company, which pays Disney for the rights. And yes, they absolutely spend more per attraction and show. Sigh.
