Magic Kingdom closed to ALL guests due to reaching absolute capacity (phase 4)

How does that scenario add up to a loss of revenue?

Considerable discounts on merchandise, coupled with less people buying merch to begin with, on top of the fact that Disney is footing almost half the bill for the majority of guests on property right now.

I am curious about that also. Do the numbers just keep expanding from year to year. What is the true capacity of each park.

That's the big question. A phase 4 means nothing to me without a figure to back it up.

Thanks Master Yoda. We now know what each of the phase numbers represent. Now all we need is an actual number of guest it takes for each of these phases to be declared.
Us as the general public will more than likely never know the numbers...the majority of the cast do not even know. All the same the actually number is not super critical for several reasons. The numbers are more than likely based on fire codes and if that is the case they can simply not be moved up and down without reason. Disney is not going to issue any phase of a closure unless they absolutely have to. With all that being said we are seeing a Phase 4 closure during a time of year that traditionally a phase 1 or 2 would be the worst we ever see is is safe to say that they are breaking attendance records.

We need to see pics of this madness...any live webcams anywhere?
Nope.
But Liberty Square likely looks kinda like this:

And Tomorrowland like this:

So, is 2009 going to go down as the year of lost revenue in the parks, massive layoffs and reorganization...

...and record park attendance?
Ironic isn't it.
How does that scenario add up to a loss of revenue?
Buy 4 get 3 free. All the $200 gift cards that went out with this deal. A large number of pin codes that went out with discounted rooms, and $500 gift cards. Exteme amounts of merchandising reduced in price. If I'm not mistaken, one of the longest periods of free dining to ever be offered. Evidently spending in the parks must be down. as MousDad is quoted below, this is by Disney's own admission. Why would they make it up.
It was listed sequentially, not cumulatively.

TWDC said park revenue was down, not me.

He is probably stuck in traffic somewhere on World Drive.
From all the reports that might very well be true.

I really can't undertand why anybody would want to be in the parks this week with those kinds of crowds.

Depending on school systems, the Virginia state school systems are on spring break this week.... probably contributing to this week's crazy schedule for the parks.

How about the rest of you? Spring break for K-12 this week, anyone??

Bueler??
