Everything on the 'West Side' is better.....so much better, that instead of cookies, they have cupcakes.
And my, what cupcakes.
The Empire can keep their dang cookies....!

These are what they are currently giving away for free to every Guest who wants one during today's 60th Celebration at Disneyland.
Just look at that pile of frosting...and the decor....and....

Even the cupcakes are better then WDW's.
:D
I hope WDW get's this type of treatment for it's 50th.

In addition to the cupcakes, Disneyland has also been giving guests free cases of the measles! Ha-ha-haaa!

Ummm how on Earth does New Fantasyland not count? Just because you may not like it, it provided MK with a new restaurant, new show/experience with Belle, 7DMT, double dumbo, Ariel, and more shops. I don't care what sat stagnating on the property before (20,000 Leagues), NFL gave us some wonderful additions to MK and I don't understand how people can be so dismissive.

It doesn't count because it isn't an expansion at all. It is simply repurposing parts of Fantasyland that were allowed to rot and adding Toontown Faire to the acreage. That's it. A new restaurant that has lousy food, insufficient restroom facilities and a theme that makes no sense (oh, all while multiple WDW restaurants have sat for years, sometimes decades closed!), a costly meet-and-greet that is really for little girls and arrested development fanbois, a decent (but short) kiddie coaster that they didn't even pay to develop as they just 'borrowed it' from Shanghai's menu, doubling a spinner and moving it from an iconic locale to the back of the park in the swamps, a lousy dark ride (Mermaid would have been fine opening in the early 90s!) etc. That's how I can be dismissive. Never has so much been spent and never has something been hyped so much with so little substance.

I'll repeat, the last major addition to the MK was Splash Mountain back in 1992, although I'll say the 1994-95 Tomorrowland 1/2 redo that changed the look of the land and gave us Alien Encounter and Timekeeper was better than what was done in Fantasyland.

Really?!? No offense intended to you or the original poster but that is mere opinion. What you may dismiss, I think is fantastic. I looove 7DMine Train and the Ariel ride. Love the atmosphere of Be Our Guest and my 1 1/2 year old played in the new enhanced dumbo queue for like two hours and she was in pure heaven. My original point- we need to be careful to not dismiss what Disney IS doing simply because it may not suit our fancy. It's similar to me saying that Disney Springs DOES NOT COUNT because it's a big shopping mall. Disney is doing a lot these days and its tiring to see so much dismissed all the time while people wait for "real change or real improvements." Open your eyes- you're missing it =)

There are nice shopping malls all over the country. People don't spend $8,000 for a week's vacation to go to a really nice mall and spend some more. It's nice, or will be when done, but has nothing to do with the parks.
I get why having a toddler, Newish Fantasyland might appeal to you. But there was a time when Disney aimed to appeal to those from eight to 88. They don't do that anymore at WDW.

It's a ham sandwich. That's all it ever will be. I had a decent roast beef sandwich there (albeit with the typical awful WDW fries). But for the hype of the restaurant, the food fails. Miserably.
It's astonishing. It's a freaking "French" restaurant (well, supposedly set in France) that serves ham sandwiches and cupcakes. It should have been King Stefan's calibre. And it should have been open, sit-down, three meals a day from the start without tacky soda fountains on display. What a ridiculous, unnecessary concept. Open the freakin Tomorrowland Terrace for lunch daily if you need capacity! One would have thought this would be a no-brainer as it makes more money due to a clear demand in the park for sit-downs if even Tony's, which serves food fit for dogs only (I guess that's on theme?) is booked up most days. If they will pay $30 for Purina, what would they be willing to pay for a passable coq au vin? Don't they have Jerome Bocuse on retainer?

The MK is a theme park for the masses and is not meant to be exclusive. King Stefans is sufficient. Fine dining can be found plenty of other places on property (with more on the way!)

BoG does what it is supposed to do. Which is why guest's love it.

IMO

I agree, its really a glorified hybrid cafeteria that is nothing but a loud chaotic mess. The food could be worse, but could also be better.

I could like/love this post word from word a thousand times over. Well stated and spot on. By the way enjoy your summer sojourn spirit.

King Stefan's WAS sufficient. Before it became an overpriced character meal serving Alpo.

Fine dining can be found in the BOATHOUSE, I grant you.

Disney Springs ain't no shopping mall. But I repeat myself. I most look forward to The Edison.

Also the new AV at the MK may be an option that even a spirit approves of.

You really need to go out to Southern California and spend a few days at Disneyland.
It will let you experience a real difference in quality, Show execution, and true *magical* charm.
Not to mention actually enjoy a calmer, more relaxed vibe without having to book your Attractions & Dining 6 months in advance.

Leave Walt Disney World behind in the swamp lands of Central Florida...slowly sinking into the abyss.
GO TO DISNEYLAND - *Walt*s Original* in beautiful, sunny,110% humidity-free California!

Travel broadens the mind...and Team Disney Anaheim delivers one Hell of a Show, especially this year.
I highly recommend taking the journey out there.
Come join the Dark Side......er,...i mean....the West Side...!

:)

I visit DL frequently when I'm on the left coast it's why I have a Premier Passport (provides admission to WDW and DL) you don't hear me constantly carping about DL do you?, Sure there are some warts but they are minor and usually fixed next day (UNLIKE WDW).

These cupcakes are FREE!!!! at WDW they would be 19.95+tax, Sometimes I wonder whether DL and WDW are run by the same company...
