The amount of water in a snow globe exceeds the amount that an airline will allow you bring as a carry on. People were being forced to throw away snow globes at the airport.

Incidentally the 3oz liquid carry on rule wasn't instituted until 2006. So there were still quite a few more years of snow globe sales after 2001.

Dateline Disneyland has a great photo recap of Disneyland's 60th celebration on July 17th, 2015. There are a lot of good ideas here that WDW should use for their 50th, including but not limited to...

Live orchestras for dancing, free cupcakes, brilliant retro photo ops, original 1955 park maps handed out, free I Was There! buttons, Richard Sherman playing piano in front of the Castle, etc., etc. Are you paying attention Orlando suits?!?

I particularly enjoyed the grand parade of original 1955 Cast Members, including key Disney execs like Richard Nunis, Jack Lindquist, Ron Dominguez, etc. who also went to Florida for a time and had key exec roles getting WDW open in 1971. They interspersed the original '55 Cast Members with current Cast Members in their uniforms from around the Disneyland Resort, and it was hysterical and cute and utterly charming. It gave you a lump in your throat, and was done so well. The beaming pride of the former and current CM's was infectious.

1955 Cast Members Marty Sklar and Bob Gurr (also opened WDW)

Bob looks like he just won the World Series. Of life.

Lesser known but just as deserving 1955 Cast Members were also featured.

Interspersed with Disney Characters and current front-line Disneyland Cast Members who are getting the place ready for the next 60 years. A brilliant idea for an anniversary parade if I ever saw one!

I sure hope someone in Team Disney Orlando was taking notes in Anaheim this weekend.

Don't worry - they were,

However they were figuring out how to make each of these an upcharge event preferably upcharge events within upcharge events. We are not allowed to have nice stuff at WDW....

and they cant pack them in their carry ons?
if you're traveling with a snow globe about tennis ball size, you can bring that in carry-on. otherwise, it has to be checked or shipped. after 9/11 snow globes were put on the prohibited list, i guess because of paranoia re: liquid explosives being placed in the snow globes or some tom clancy nonsense like that

I see.
And not even in the checked baggage?

I heard Bricker @WDWFigment went 60 for 60 ... or at least thats what he tweeted ... Im not sure if he was serious or not ... but when it comes to good food and good free food, he doesn't mess around ... I could see him put 60 away ... the kid must have a metabolism like a pack of termites.

Ha, that most certainly was a joke. I think I had 3 of them.

I hope you're right Tomorrowland needs a serious overhaul. I just hope they leave Carousel of Progress alone and update the final scene! For Frontierland I hope they dust off the Western River Expedition plans.
Yes! Update COP! I don't want to see it go, I love it. I hope Tomorrowland does get a makeover but I hope the People Mover doesn't go the way of DLs.

I was thinking the same thing. TomorrowLand needs MAJOR attention. but to me the rest of the park looks good.
Tomorrowland needs thematic work that could be done as part of the $350m already approved, but Tomorrowland has no lack of rides. Frontierland has two rides and has been untouched for 23 years. To me, in fact, it is clear that it is Frontierland that needs the new ride.

Those rides have been untouched other than required maintenance because they really aren't flawed. Everything in Tomorrowland could stand to be replaced or updated. Splash and Thunder are better than any attraction in Tomorrowland.

Does the fact that it's two rides are good excuse it being a land that has received no attention in 23 years? It's the only land that hasn't seen major updates in that time. Staler than a burger bun at McDonalds.

Ever hear of quality over quantity ? I stand by my opinion.

i prefer quality over quantity. frontierland is wat better than tomorrowland due to its quality. i'd love for either to get a new ride, especially if its as great as either Splash/BTMR/ or COP...well the first three scenes
