Mad Tea Party closing for refurbishment

Love the vegetation around and above the ride.

If we are not to get the DLP roof, then I hope we move to something closer to this. Would really fit well with the "Fantasy Forest" theme for it to be surrounded by trees overhanging the ride.

I know the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, in this case literally, but by looking at these pictures I can't help but think that WDW's Mad Tea Party is the ugliest of the bunch.

Well, it's certainly not the best looking!

Thanks for posting pics of the one in DLP... it is beautiful looking! Would a roof like that be able to stand up to Florida weather?

Speedway? Really?

I hadn't heard that, hope it is true. That is an attraction that has long outlived its relevance.

I never said that the speedway would be removed. Only that at one time the plan was slightly move the speedway. The last turn would be slightly rerouted. As far as I know this is still the plan.

Why can't they just get rid of the whole thing, or make it have multiple floors to reduce that big footprint it takes up.

Just saw this and my 4 1/2 year old daughter is going to be bummed. Just yesterday she told me she can't wait to ride the teacups with me. Heres to hoping they open a week ahead of schedule so we can catch it.

Yes, while these refurbs cut into people's vacations, it's only for the better of the park, the park needs these things. As you said, hopefully they do open it a week earlier.

I totally agree with you, its just funny that she stated yesterday she wanted to ride it, and I see this today. Although she has been 7 times already this trip is where she is old enough to be excited about the trip and looking forward to things.

Although I am sad for her, but kinda happy because as with age I cannot spin like I use to. Last time my head spun for about an hour or so. :ROFLOL:

As far as I know this is for a roof repair on an issue that couldn't wait. I don't believe its for installation of a DLP style roof.

For what it's worth; I saw a bunch of Imagineer types riding the teacups at around 9:05 immediately after the park opened on Friday. They weren't looking up much, just all around, more like they were experiencing the sensation of the ride rather than concentrating on the visual aspect of it. There were also a handful of mechanical engineer types watching them from the side.

What exactly is a "mechanical engineer type"?
