Mad Tea Party closing for refurbishment

I always thought that noise was natural due to the ride system.

It is, but I've been told that the teacups at Disneyland don't make that noise. And some tea parties it's extremely loud, and others it's quiet, so there's gotta be something they can do to at least make it a little quieter.

I would have to guess it has to do with how new or old the ride is and the kind of braking system it uses.

Personally I think they should use regenative braking. Ive never heard of loud magnets, plus they create electricty. Win-Win situation

Most regenerative/magnetic braking systems are only good down to a certain speed. Below that speed they still have to use some kind of real brake that makes physical contact. It's pureply a matter of physics and energy loss. I doubt the teacups or the platform get much above whatever minimum speed that is, if they get above it at all.

(I don't know what the cutoff is for the regenerative braking on hybrid cars, but I know that roller coasters that use magnetic brakes are only good down to 5-6 MPH.)
