Looking for the least noisy on-site hotel

I booked at Pop Century but now I have been put off by numerous reviews saying that Pop has "paper thin walls."

I am an adult who is severely disturbed by noise. I know enough to request a room away from elevators, walkways, pools, main buildings and on the top floor. But can anyone who's stayed at Pop verify the noise levels room to room? Is it really that bad? (We'll be there mid-May.)

Although I'm on a tight-ish budget, I am thinking of switching to a moderate -Coronado Springs - because from what I've read, it's geared more to adults and convention-goers. Do you think this would be a quieter option for me?

(Please note that I totally understand what a trip to WDW entails noise and chaos-wise. But I suffer from PTSD and I am trying to minimize my triggers while still getting my Disney-fix.)

Thanks in advance for your help

We were at Pop in October. Didn't hear anything through the walls. Noises from the pool is another story.

Not old, just vintage.
I would recommend POFQ. The hotel is usually very quiet and there are a lot less children there than some other resorts. There is one building in particular that is right up against the river and is probably one of the quietest buildings I have ever stayed in on Disney property. Of course it is farthest away from the main building, but the resort is so compact to begin with it isn't a very long walk.

We stayed at 2303 (third floor, our building face the pool, 50's section.) We could hear, at time, the resort music--and that was it. Other then that, quiet. Oh, and the toilets are loud.

We have stayed at Coronado seven times (and can't wait for number eight with the new rehabbed rooms, queen beds, etc.) and have never had an issue with noise and we've been on every floor from the 1st to the 4th.

Get a top floor at Pop, away from pool and you will be fine.

I've heard the "paper thin" walls comment from Poly and GF guests too - it depends on who your neighbors are.

Toilets are loud in all Disney resorts - keep the bathroom door closed to minimize that noise.

Pop also has clock radios with "white noise" that may help you - rain, surf, etc.

Enjoy!

Had mixed results at Pop - Usually it's pretty quiet if you stay away from the main pool. Ask for the 90's building - it's away from the pools, and everything else for the kids to do, but if you cut through the parking lot it's not a bad walk to the buses and food court.

When we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge in late September, there was a lot of noise during the morning due to construction going on. We never slept in, but don't think we could have if we'd wanted to.

That said, for normal sleeping hours, you know, when the sun is down - it was plenty quiet.

agreed. :)

Probably because there are relatively few overly excited kids running outside your door at all hours like you have at Caribbean Beach and PO-Riverside, plus all value hotels. Coronado is more an adult resort due to all the conventioneers, I suppose.

Better stick with POFQ or Coronado for less noise. At POP, theres kids running all over all hrs. by themselves. We love POP, though, except for that!!

I'm sure this recommendation won't be well received, but might I suggest trying to score a deal at either the Swan or Dolphin. I've stayed at these hotels as well as the Disney resorts several times, and honestly, while not themed to a particular time period or location on the globe, they are beautiful hotels that are most importantly, MUCH quieter than any of the Disney resorts. Without a doubt, Disney creates and runs the best theme parks in the world, however, there are companies that have specialized in hotel hospitality much longer than Disney and I feel that this shows in the level of service one receives at a hotel by an outside company that is priced in-line with the moderate to deluxe Disney offerings. The only drawback is that you must pay for parking at the Swan and Dolphin. You are still entitled to extra magic hours and free parking at the parks with your hotel room key. I've just felt that the Swan and Dolphin feel a bit more like a hotel, and all one must do is step outside to be immersed in the magic. If you're dead set on a Disney hotel, as far as peace and quiet goes, I've found Coronado Springs to be the most quiet.

Here's my 2 cents about "paper thin walls" I have read tons of reviews about the All Stars having paper thin walls. We just got back from All Star Music. We were in Broadway (away from the pools) our room was on the end next to the elevator and we faced toward the parking lot.

We honestly thought that the room next to us was empty until the last night of our stay when they had pizza delivered to their room while I was returning from the gift shop. I talked with my neighbors a moment and found out they had been there all week! We never heard a peep out of them and they never heard out EXTREMLY loud son or daughter. Not even when they were having a "I don't want to got to bed." moment.

DH is of the opinion that the walls are either concrete or insulated. Not paper thin.

You can sometimes hear people walk by your window, but not through your walls! What about bringing a small white noise machine? We do this for our kids.

I've stayed at all the value resorts and can honestly say that I have never noticed hearing guests next door. Occasionally, you will here a toilet flush or the shower on, but it never bothered me.

For the record, I am an extremely light sleep. As a matter of fact, I sleep with ear plugs in every night of life because I will wake up when I hear the slightest sound.

Just curious, but does anyone know if the All Stars have such a clock radio? We stayed there a few years back (All Star Movies), and I don't remember anything like it.

We are staying there again in Feb and it would be nice to have (I normally sleep with the noise of a box fan.:hammer:

We stayed at POP just a couple of weeks ago. We were on the 2nd floor, toward the back of the 70's building. There were occupied rooms around us, and we never heard anything. We also never saw unattended kids running all over the place as other have stated. Other than the food court being really really crowded in the mornings, we were pretty impressed with the pop. The food court thing wasn't a big deal either. We just wound up picking up some muffins and fruit cups at walmart to have in our room before heading out instead of dealing with the "morning traffic". IMO the rooms were clean, the grounds were clean, the beds were comfortable enough and the noise was minimal if any.
