The point we are trying to make, is that if this guy had been responsible with his handgun, nobody would have ever known that it was there in the first place. From the tone of your post, it seems you have what I would call an irrational dislike of firearms. Yes, a firearm is a tool, with a primary job to harm others. Yet, a gun is only as dangerous as the person carrying it. A gun all by itself never harmed anyone.

Exactly! The biggest issue I have is that this guy knew he shouldn't bring his weapon in the park and did it anyway and in an extremely unsafe manor. If this guy had an inside waist band holster I would have been less upset but his decision was foolish and makes responsible gun owners look stupid.

So, by that statement, can we assume the same for cars, knives, swords, rocks, ropes, electricity, gasoline, etc?
Think about this, whenever someone is killed in an auto accident, and the driver of the car that causes the accident was drunk, have you ever heard anybody jump on the "cars are dangerous because they kill people" bandwagon? No, they always, ALWAYS blame and prosecute the DRUNK DRIVER, not the car!

Let me know the next time someone commits mass murder with a car.

How on earth did his gun get out of the holster? I am not too familiar with guns. I can shoot them if need be but it seems to me that if your gun falls out of its holster...you really dont need one. Another thing....he had to have been hiding it at the entrance to the park. If he had it on his waist surely the cm/guards would have seen it??

In short, from what I've picked up here and from the news, no holster, pocket only, walked straight through the front gates that way. That's how it was able to fall out of his pocket. I'm sure i'll be corrected if I've gotten it wrong.

I wonder if he was under the impression that you had to bring your own gun for Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger spin.

Perhaps he was auditioning for the brought-back poacher and Little Red refurb of Kilimanjaro Safari

Could be that he was going to threaten the Yeti to work again or else.

Maybe he thought food prices were too steep and was going to hunt squirrel for lunch.

Ok Done for now

Ok, I have personal experience with loaded weapons falling into the wrong hands so this scared the crap out me. The only thing I have to say is that Disney should make their rule of no weapons more obvious and I wish more gun owners would realize that it is against Disney rules to bring a firearm in the parks.

I think this man was irresponsible - not saying all gun owners are. The gun was not properly secured and he either did not educate himself on Disney rules regarding weapons before he chose to bring one in or he simply didn't care.

I think we should be thankful that nothing bad happened and hopefully this will be enough to deter some people from bringing their weapons into the parks.

No problem. The other thread just turned into a "I'm NRA and you can't take my guns until you kill me!" vs "Guns will kill every person on the planet and they should only be for the government."

It was rather silly at the end. :D
I stopped reading after the third page. I was thinking to myself could you imagine what the picture at the end would show if something did happen? Sounds like a script for Law & Order.

I said it on the locked thread and I'll say it again: There is no reason to bring a weapon into a theme park. If you just can't abide the thought of leaving it home for the day, at least be responsible enough to lock it away, hidden in your vehicle. And if you're staying on property, well I've been staying on property since 1975 and have never felt that the housekeeping staff was so threatening that I needed to pack heat. And jeez, the rooms do have safes for Pete's sake.
Sorry folks, but all "recent" events aside in CT, CO, MA and the like, I see no reason to carry a weapon into a theme park.

What about the Clock Tower at the University of Texas?

OMG! Why didn't he have this secured/holstered to his person? Or double check before exiting, knowing he's armed.

I really don't feel guns belong at Disney World where incidences like this show how easy they can get into the wrong hands. However, if you ARE going to arm yourself, don't be an idiot about it.
