I think the point he was making is that Disney's The Little Mermaid is already very far from the source material.

A lot of the Disney fairytale films have changes from the source materials. As for Little Mermaid the original story definitely is darker then Disney's.

Or maybe it’s Earl Grey, which is indeed meant to be drunk black, though those of us who aren’t posh often break that rule.

Earl Grey tea is kind of a signature for the character. "Tea, Earl Grey, hot" was always his standard replicator order. I never recall seeing him add anything to it.

At the end of the day this is a Promotion for the film. Just like how you can see her outfit and Jude laws hook in the Disney 100 expo. If her meet and greet proves popular enough maybe both Ariels will be staples to their respective parks. Who knows?

Phase 4 did not leave things in a great spot. I do not see the next tranche of movies doing well. They have gotten away from good stories and are just plain bad.

Since we can’t have anything in the parks not directly tied to an IP anymore, in a way the movies are the future of the parks.

Did they have black Santa’s last Christmas, having a black Santa was a newsworthy event in 2021 but I can’t recall anyone talking about it in 2022. Did they stop or were people just used to it so it wasn’t newsworthy anymore?

It wasn't newsworthy anymore. It's the norm for Disney now, so no need for news. I personally don't think we needed a breaking news article about it to begin with, but I digress.

There absolutely should be more non-white princesses but I feel like they should make new movies and characters instead of redoing existing characters with different looks. Same thing would apply if they tried to do a movie with an oriental Tiana or a hispanic Mulan. Keep the classics the same, create new hit movies, new characters, and future classics. That is assuming their creativity and imagination hasn’t run out in their movie dept (which it’s beginning to seem like)

this is how i feel. create new stories and new characters... stop recycling everything over and over but changing this or that.

Yeah, that Under the Sea clip, ick. #Not my Sebastian, or flounder for that matter. They are such important characters and I can’t stand watching them they are way too much in the uncanny valley.

Something about how their hair moves with their face just looks so bizarre or something. Just. Weird. I don’t know. Maybe it was just in that one clip I saw but it didn’t look anything like I would have expected
