Little Mermaid Track Layout (not a question)

I think it's going to be a really nice attraction. I especially like the look of the Under the Sea section. If done right that section should be really impressive.

Yeah, the ride might be on the short side but it has some serious potential to be a great ride. Can't wait to see the final product!

Over at the Disney Park's Blog there is a Disney California Adventure update that includes information and pictures from Ariel's Undersea Adventure. The same attraction is coming to the Magic Kingdom in 2012.

Next in Disney California Adventure Park – The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure: This is the next big milestone in the ongoing expansion of Disney California Adventure park, and we’ll be sharing more news here on the blog in the coming weeks. Today, we’re sharing one of the models from the “Under the Sea” scene for the new attraction. The Little Mermaid attraction, set to debut in 2011, will give new meaning to the phrase “immersive Disney attraction” by taking guests “under the sea” to experience magnificent scenes and magical songs from the popular motion picture.

Little Mermaid ride track layout display at DCA Blue Sky Cellar

I count 107 vehicles! I was only two off from my guess of 105! Why didn't I play the lottery this week???

So, Disneyland's Haunted Mansion has 131 vehicles, with about 15 of those vehicles being unused on a backstage loop between Unload and Load. Mermaid has 107 vehicles with no unused track space between Load and Unload. Haunted Mansion at Disneyland has a ride time right at the 7 Minute mark from the time you step in a Doom Buggy until the time you exit your Doom Buggy.

That says to me that the ride time of Little Mermaid has to be around 6 Minutes long.

As a point of WDW reference, The Seas With Nemo & Friends ride is just a few seconds under 5 Minutes from the time you enter the clamshell to the time you step out. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is 4 Minutes, 30 Seconds long Peter Pan's Flight is a few seconds under 3 Minutes in length, The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh are a few seconds over 3 Minutes in length.

^ So your saying this could actually be longer than previously thought?

I don't know what was "previously thought", I'm just saying what it looks like. It looks like a ride using basic Omnimover vehicles the same size as Haunted Mansion, seating 2 or 3 adults. There are 107 vehicles, with no unused portion of track between Unload/Load. It's in a building with two levels, where there is a "descent" segment near the begining and your vehicles turn backwards and go down a ramp to go "under the sea". Then towards the end of the ride you "ascend" and come back up for the finale'.

Using Haunted Mansion at Disneyland as a point of reference, it appears to clock in around 6 Minutes. Many scenes appear to be on the same scale as Haunted Mansion, although the big Under The Sea musical production room isn't quite as big as the Graveyard musical scene in Haunted Mansion. The Kiss The Girl scene appears to be about the same size as the Seance Circle scene for instance, but with a slightly more eliptical track shape instead of the full circle.

It looks like an awesome ride! It has a longer ride time than Nemo or Buzz Lightyear, but not quite as long as Haunted Mansion. That's what I'm saying. :D

Couldn't tell you.
Mansion at DL is supposedly (according to the internal ops manual) roughly 6:30 for a Buggy to get from a point back to that same point.
With Mansion having more track, I don't see where the 6min for TLM is coming from.

And when they say "descent" I don't believe they mean physical descent. The show scene will likely simulate a descent and ascent. (Nothing on what I have seen up to this point would indicate a major change in elevation for the ride path....but I need to look into that to be sure.)
