Little Mermaid Track Layout (not a question)

While Mysterious Island seemed to have some legs not long ago, that also seems to be off the table as well.

Many people thought it was definitely coming. Just about two years ago, several over-excited WDI folks told me to "go see [attractions that would have been affected]* NOW for one of the last times!!!" Ground was "going to break next spring!" They thought MI was certainly going to be approved. It wasn't. :(

*sorry that I have to remain vague.

Unfortunately it seems that nothing concrete is in the works - even 5 years out. I'm sure things could get fast tracked if need be, but right now none of the Animal Kingdom stuff seems legit other than they're doing "something" with the Yeti, and what seems like a small non-descript Africa event.

Yep.

But was it ever an entire attraction dedicated to selling one ride/expansion?

WRE was sold to guests at the end of the Walt Disney Story, but it certainly wasn't the focus of the presentation.

Disney is previewing FLE by putting up large posters with text on the construction walls. A model of some sort could be displayed elsewhere on property (such as One Man's Dream), but an entire "Blue Sky Celler" for just FLE sounds pretty unnecessary. There just isn't the extensive list of offerings to chose from to display concept renderings and such.

Finally, the amount of construction walls for the FLE expansion cannot compare to the ones that exist throughout DCA blocking large areas once open to the public, causing a greater need for explanation as to what is going on.

Disney is desperately trying to completely re-brand DCA, an entirely different issue than what WDW marketing is about or is required, regardless of how "stale" you or I think WDW is.

Maelstrom was previewed. I even remember it being played on the Disney Channel. And I was pumped for it.

I'm not comparing DCA and WDW at all. Their situations are completely different. I'm saying it would be cool to have one. But my opinion is that the reason we don't has only to do with TDO not wanting to invest in anything original or exciting for WDW and that there just isn't anything to display. And I'm sure they don't want people to see the attractions that they're eventually going to cancel, anyway.

True, but maybe we should complain about TDA showing off the covered queue for MFF and the redone roof for King Triton's Carousel too then. :lookaroun

Along with Disney previewing WRE, the Asian Resort, Spain in WS, BK etc.

I'm sure they could put a "things are subject to change" line in there somewhere.

A big part of this discussion yas been models, and most recently the one now on display. That is not a show model, but a real design model. In order for there to be a Fantasyland Preview Center, you would have to ship out at least one model of note.

The Blue Sky Cellar is also more than just a preview center, it also in many ways showcases the Imagineering process. Even now, many Disneylanders do not get that and get over worked about art that is on display but not a final product.

I would much rather see Disney put together a decent video preview that is looped between the Top 7 video and maybe even have bits play on the screen at the Art of Disney in the Magic Kingdom.

Well, I wonder what they will announce and/or display at the Disney Parks Pavilion at next year's huge D23 Expo in Anaheim? That's the granddaddy of all Preview Centers! :sohappy:

In an attempt to get this back on topic, I wanted to try and link or show some more pictures of the wonderful Little Mermaid ride model now on display at the Blue Sky Cellar. I recently spent about 10 minutes just walking around the model and peering down into the little viewing windows cut into the foam walls. There are some great views down into the model where you can peek into the smaller show scenes and see little caricatures of Ursula and Ariel and Flotsam and Jetsam, etc. But in the current West Coast frenzy over World of Color, which is all that anyone is talking about now on Disneyland websites, I can't really find any linkable images yet of the intricacies of the model.

There are some great pics in a photo update on Miceage, but I can't link to them individually. So, I will just direct folks curious about the Little Mermaid ride coming to Magic Kingdom in 2012 to check out the huge photo update in the Dateline Disneyland column found here. Amazing Mermaid attraction pictures found here, just scroll past the World of Color and Glow Fest pictures! http://micechat.com/forums/blogs/da...uts-glow-fest-lights-up-blue-sky-preview.html

I've read the other posts. And you're wrong if you think WDW can just ride on their past accomplishments, which is what they've been doing. They've actually been lucky about the recession in that it's allowed for the discounts which helped with attendance.

But I've said this before, it looks very likely that WDW is not going to be the #1 visited park this year, DL will be, which you guys are claiming is the reason they don't need to try to entice people to come. And soon, they're not even going to be the top theme park in the world anymore, TDL will.

They are going to be in the position soon of having to entice people, and yes, cater to Florida residents like they once did. They can't just rely on tourists anymore.

And they DID preview attractions once upon a time for WDW.
Exactly this is a very positive thing for us and the future of the parks.

I don't know that it's necessary to build a preview center when things can be put into One Man's Dream. There's only so much in terms of concept art that can be put into place for the Fantasyland Expansion, so that would seem like the logical place to put it. Either that or somewhere on Main Street U.S.A. (Perhaps in Exposition Hall if they can find a way to fix the mice problem).

I don't expect any announcement about new attractions (with the exception of the Monster's Inc Coaster) prior to the D23 convention next August. Even then, this far out my best guess would be a Soarin' Over the World announcement. I really think we're several years away from anything substantial even being announced for the Animal Kingdom.

To fix this, I suggest we all fore-go trips to DHS and DAK over the next few years and visit Universal Studios.

There's another great photo and video update available of the new Little Mermaid ride exhibit at the Blue Sky Cellar. These pictures (that you can enlarge easily) offer good peeks down into the nooks and crannies of the big model display where you can see some of the smaller show scenes.

If you want a good look at the Little Mermaid ride model and sketches, check out this excellent update at LaughingPlace... http://www.laughingplace.com/Lotion-View-1058.asp

Well he said mice problem, and I thought to myself "Mickey and Minnie aren't a problem!"

Idk, I guess you just had to be there... or rather be me.
