Wdw got my last dollar. I’ve been so many times and I have 490 points in 3 separate contracts at BLT. We are going to Alunai next summer with my points and then selling.

we will spend our vacations elsewhere

my kids don’t even want to go back because this trip was so awful and that’s really sad.
There is so many parks out there to visit. Dollywood, Silver Dollar City Cedar Point.

Da Bears, Da Cubbies, Da Sox, Da Hawks all had years and years of not bringing home the bacon. Hawks won a few, Cubbies broke their streak as did the Sox but none produce year after year like other teams did. Second city and all....

We've got great food, great music, great culture and a bar on practically every corner. I'm happy.

Plus I lived the Bulls in the 90s. Greatest time ever.

Last time I was there I had great seats at a Cubs Sox interplay game that I rode the red line to, had lunch at Uno at the bar after Navy Pier and heard the blues in so many corners as I walked the waterfront parks and rode the trains that I had the most magical time ever. I grew up in the burbs and after 20 years there I had never had such a great time in the city. Stayed near the loop in the heart of the city and after 40 years away I felt I was seeing old friends with new eyes.
Yeah, I left out the Bulls, Mikey, Dennis and their competition put on a once in a lifetime show. I was glad to be around to see it from the Jazzy side.

When did you end up going again? I seem to remember that you seemed to have yourself in the “crosshairs of disappointment”

it’s just much less value/leisure now…If you don’t accept that before you go…it’s gonna hit you like rapunzel’s frying Pan
Why does it stick it to Disney? Not sure I follow.
The loyalty and prices paid by the longtime DVC won’t be matched moving forward. Because interest is more “fleeting” as time moves on. It’s just higher prices now…not more volume/profit. They made a killing (relative to inflation) off us.
I read it as the old guard spent much more during their DVC trips than the new crop but I'm not an expert on sirspeaK

Make it a road trip: Dollywood, Kings Island, Cedar Point, Hersheypark, Busch Gardens Virginia.

Along the route, there's also Knoebels and Kings Dominion (alongside the previously added Kennywood). Plus, there's also Great Smoky Mountain National Park nearby Dollywood; Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg nearby Busch Gardens; the route travels past D.C. and Gettysburg so they'd be easy additions; and then there are the less touristy cities of Pittsburg, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Knoxville, and Richmond (plus several more) that the loop goes through.

We went April 2021 and stayed 10 days in 3br at BLT (after cancelling 2x for Covid) and then thanksgiving week for 7 nights in a 1 BR at BLT.

They were just awful. The list is so long of the disappointments that I wouldn’t even know where to start. Good thing is, I paid $99 per contract for my 2 add ons of 160 and 170 points and they are now selling for $150+ so I got my money’s worth and then some.

so I have no problem selling and moving on.

It was the thanksgiving one I was asking about…I’m not surprised by your feedback.

also a tip: doesn’t matter the size of your room or the view…the point of going there…always…has been the atmosphere, food, outdoor environment, etc.

which is why egregious overpricing threatens the whole thing. People will tolerate some inconvenience…not “suck” that feels like a calculated ripoff scheme…where your “choice” in the scheme to buy your way out of it to make it “suck less”

that’s Chapek

Yeah I agree.

My point is they are really sticking it to everyone with all the up charges, shorter park hours, after hour events, petty moves (most recent being the light saber incident) higher resort prices, fewer entertainment offerings (citizens of Hollywood, etc), smaller food portions, worse food quality, removal of perks (magical express, free fast passes, free parking, free magic bands, etc)

Then you put this crappy genie+ on top of all these crappy other moves and it hit my breaking point.

the reason I write here is because it upsets me because we love Disney, or at least what Disney was, and our trip was so bad that it wasn’t enjoyable. They have ruined a place we really enjoyed going to the point we don’t want to go any more and I never thought I’d say that.

FP+ Only lasted 8 years. I would be COMPLETELY shocked if this last half that long. Customer satisfaction is horrendous with this service and sooner or later it will affect business

the way I look at it is, Disney is going to have to change it, why not do it now before it has to be to save face when they’ve lost some of their loyal customers

I understand paid monetized line skipping is here to stay. But get a system that customers like. I don’t know if universal express pass would work in WDW, but I never hear anyone complaining about it.

they need a PR firm to help them restore al lot of the stupid decisions they’ve made because everywhere I look, all the blogs/videos/articles I read, they are all negative and none are positive

They’re just going to replace it with more “pay as you go” options.

I decried this kind long ago…beware of block pricing…

but then people swallowed after hours

then it was beware of paid fastpasses…and people now talk about how paying $18 for a jaunt on a low thrill rehash of 3 really bad Star Wars movies is “great”

the problem here is 101% psychology on the part of the consumers…
If YOU don’t fight back and draw the line then YOU will have killed it…don’t blame Disney…they aren’t your “friend”

Agree. And that’s why we won’t be back. I know it’s a business. I’m just bummed it’s not the place I remember when my parents took me there as a kid, during my high school and college years, when I went to take my wife and 6 month old or now that I have teenagers.

we have gone through many changes with WDW, some good and some bad, but none of them have given me this feeling of anger.

and the reason why they would never change it now is because the execs have made promises to investors that they have near limitless ability to charge more and more for really old park stuff. Because the bones of those parks are really old…they haven’t kept up.

Chapek is only doing what Iger taught him: promise everything and make the customers call your bluff and say “no”…and they’re too gutless to do it.

We’re not really all that different. I’m not at a breaking point…

…because mine will be organic. I’ll just wash my hands of it and take up more watersports and tracks overseas more.

that is all but guaranteed now…when loyalty would have made it impossible not too long ago. Investors beware.
