Liberty Square Bridge

I was told this by my friend, who is a CM.

He told me that the bridge would be going under construction in Aug, and would be under work for about 2 weeks. During this time, Spectro would be down and DDCT would be altered (it would start on Main Street, run down and around the castle hub, and end on Main Street).

From what I heard, they were going to route one of the parades up and around the Hub, and back. Also, Spectro was going to go through Toontown but the space proved too small.

Yes. The day parade (DDCT) is going to go around the hub, so it will be starting and ending on Main Street.

Due to the limited space, Spectro will be down totally during that time.

Thanks for the info Jo. Hopefully, it will be done and over with before I arrive in September. Wouldn't want to miss any of the parades.

Well, the bridge has to be completely done before the first Halloween Party on September 5th, because they need the full parade route to run the Party's parade.

From what I read a month or two ago, the day parade will remove one float (the castle?). In the shortened length, it *just* fits around the Hub, so the first float will be finishing its circle around the Hub just as the last float has entered it.

I'd keep an eye on the MK's official calendar to see what dates Spectro disappears from it.

Can someone explain this to me? How does a parade start and end on Main St? If it starts where Spectro does and goes around the hub, Mickey is going to run flat into the Princess float coming back around. Two sides of a parade won't fit on Main St will it? I'm talking about hte 3 PM parade.

the first float would go up and go around the the hub and stop at the Y, and do an extended shop stop until all the floats are around the Hub, and then it would go back down.

And this can be done with the removal of the Princess/castle float. In the Jim Hill article it mentioned that they drove all of the floats out to the Hub one night, messed around with them a bit and were able to park all of them around the Hub with the removal of just the one float.

Though this does create an interesting logistical/crowd control problem. Will people along the route be told about the new route? What about people that walk up just as the parade is starting? After the parade goes by, the streets usually fill with people as they leave. Will they really be able to keep people off the streets so that the parade can pass by again?

That's something that they can't try out while the park's closed. I wonder if they'll try it out the first day or two, and if it's too big of a crowd-control problem if they'll just scrap the parade until the bridge is done.

From what i've heard, the first fload will almost park it's self at the end of the hub, and wait until the last float enters the hub, before it continues on back down main street.

it will createa a line of "parked" floats around the hub, and will look rather foolish - but i guess it's better then the bridge collapsing

I'd much rather it be done similar to DL - start on main street to toontown, then back through later on - but no enough storage room backstage, and a parade of floats running down Floridian Way to the Parade Building would look really strange

Disneyland has done this once for a few days in 2004 when there was a pool set up on Main Street that had Parade of the Stars go from IASSW to the hub and went back. So its really do able just a little funny to see. Although it was also done in a slower season and Parade of the Starts was 5 years old and not like there were that many people that would want to see that parade anyways.

Edit- Knew there were pics, anyways if you go through a few pages you can see the hub circled by parade floats which is a wierd site to see.

Well, the circumference of the Hub roadway is about 510 feet. (About 1 3/4 football fields). I can easily see the daytime parade all fitting in that length.

So the people who decide to watch the parade along main street are pretty much forced to watch the parade go by twice or else try to fight their way through the crowd to get to the rest of the park? Thats no fun

I was just thinking the same tihing Who wants to watch it twice? Sounds like a great time to go to some attractions.

I guess it's better than having no parades at all. As it is, SpectroMagic will be down this entire time. I'm sure they're going to try to get this done as quickly as possible. It's not like this is permanent.
