Liberty Square Bridge

And this can be done with the removal of the Princess/castle float. In the Jim Hill article it mentioned that they drove all of the floats out to the Hub one night, messed around with them a bit and were able to park all of them around the Hub with the removal of just the one float.

Though this does create an interesting logistical/crowd control problem. Will people along the route be told about the new route? What about people that walk up just as the parade is starting? After the parade goes by, the streets usually fill with people as they leave. Will they really be able to keep people off the streets so that the parade can pass by again?

That's something that they can't try out while the park's closed. I wonder if they'll try it out the first day or two, and if it's too big of a crowd-control problem if they'll just scrap the parade until the bridge is done.

Yeah, that's the part my friend is not looking forward to- the fact that it will get so cazy down on Main Street.

I was told this by my friend, who is a CM.

He told me that the bridge would be going under construction in Aug, and would be under work for about 2 weeks. During this time, Spectro would be down and DDCT would be altered (it would start on Main Street, run down and around the castle hub, and end on Main Street).

Is it even possible for Spectro to go off the original route? There are no pucks anywhere off the route to sync the floats...correct me if i'm wrong..

I'm sure it's possible to come up with a temporary solution to anything that the pucks do for the floats. (with all the various systems, I always get confused as to which system exactly does what). Though I do believe they've run the parades in a slightly altered route around the Hub when they needed the space in front of the Castle for a special event setup. They ran the parade around the short part of the Hub that normally *doesn't* have the parade driving through it...

But the question is kinda moot, as Spectro won't be running during the refurb anyway. It's too long.

Actually, my guess would be starting August 18th. (Anyone want to start a pool?) ;)

Whent he bridge closes, Spectromagic won't run. Though Spectro is still listed as running almost every day in August, on many nights through August 17th it's scheduled to run twice a night. Starting on the 18th, it's only scheduled for one showing (on the nights it *is* scheduled on).

So my assumption would be approximately August 18-August 31.

Hope they don't have any hang-ups when they start working on it. MNSSHP would only be a couple of weeks away from that date.

I would love if this were the case. Our trip is Aug 12-18. I'm not going to complain either way, as I know maintenance and refurbishments have to occur during someone's vacation, and there's no reason it shouldn't be mine...

Well, the dates have been announced (according to my friend):
the bridge will be down Aug 15-29, and reopen Aug 30.

Although I am not down at the World anymore, I still have my Disney e-mail account and get updates through it. According to the e-mail that I received about the bridge repairs, there will be two showings of the Disney Dreams Come True parade, one at 3 PM and the other at 7 PM, during the bridge refurbishment. There will also be additional showings of the castle shows, extended character meet-and-greet opportunities in the evening in Town Square, and additional performances of Woody's Cowboy Camp.
