Lesser Known Magical Experiences

I have heard something about waking up Tinkerbell. Does anyone know what you have to do to be able to do this, or what it entails? TIA.

You wake her up at the Magic Kingdom, in her shop by the castle. For the life of me I can not think of the name of the shop. But there is a chest that has a keyhole and you look inside it to "wake" her up.

My favorite overlooked thing is Miyuki, the candy maker in Japan. In about a minute, using only scissors, a paint brush and food coloring, she transforms a golf ball-sized lump of molten candy into any number of animals--from hummingbirds to dragons. Best of all, she gives them away for free.

I believe I saw on one of those Disney thingies on the Travel Channel that Miyuki is the first female ever to be allowed to do this very special animal art. It is a tradition in her family for many generations. Many of the women have picked it up over the years. However, she is the only female allowed to do this in public. Really cool if you ask me!!!

Morocco offers a free guided tour of the pavilion, which highlights the architecture and significance of the structures represented. You can sign up in the building across the courtyard from the Tangerine Cafe.

I'd never heard of this one. Morocco is my daughter's favourite pavillion (one of our family's favourites) so this would be so cool for us to do. Thanks!

Take a rest on the wicker furniture on the balcony outside of the Boardwalk's lobby. We always sit there after arriving and wait for our room to be ready. A nice slow way to enjoy the start of our vacation. And then my dad always says...enjoy it now because it will just fly by. And of course it does.

omg that ice cream sundae is insane! :ROFLOL:

i would love to try one, but on a trip with a lot more people than my next one! Thanks for posting pics, I couldn't have imagined it w/out seeing it!

I've actually thought about going and getting a Kitchen Sink for just the hubby and me. I'm on a perpetual diet and his teeth can only take sweets in very short spurts. We'd probably only eat 1/32 of the thing but it'd be fun just to have it in front of us. Ooooor, I wonder if we could find another fun couple to share our treat (by dishing it into separate bowls, of course). :D

One of my favorite things to do is grab a chocolate croissant and coffee at the French Bakery just after World Showcase opens and sit at one of the tables outside. It almost seems like your in France. I love watching World Showcase come to life. We usually stay at the Beach Club, sleep late one morning and walk over to the International Gateway just before 11am for a late breakfast. Another favorite is to take the boat from DHS to the Boardwalk after DHS closes and sit outside at the Big River Grille for a late dinner or to enjoy a drink. Usually you can hear Illuminations if you time it right.

the pirate adventure, there are several, my kids have only gone on the one from grand floridian, is a truly magical experience.
they head out on a pirate ship with cool pirate slogans, flying the jolly roger, all screaming AAAAARRGGHH as they go. they spend two hours landing at various beaches around the lagoon, in search of a treasure map, they follow the map to the hidden treasure. i've never seen so many kids returning from anything so excited!
they each get their own pirate hat, patch, and little treasure chest with lots of "treasure" inside. it was the highlight of the trip for my five and seven year olds.

YES! I forgot about that one! My kids loved it too! They were nervous leaving mom & dad but came back all smiles :) Nice for the parents to get a
two hr break to "monorail tour" lol.

I think the other one if they still do it was at the Yacht Club...

Pirate Adventures go from 3 locations: CBR, POR, GF. Each one of them features a different captain. I'm still deciding on which to send my 4 1/2 year old this summer.:)

Is that the barber shop at MK or a different one?
What is the ice cream social?

yes the same barber shop..

ice cream social, Im not sure if they still do it or not, but we had went a few times to the Land in Epcot and at 3pm or so they would have an ice cream social with characters come to your table at The Garden Grill..

Watching performance/guest interation with:

DiVine
Wes Palm
Pipa
....all at AK

Push at MK Tomorrowland

Does the AK times guide indicate when the performances are for these artists, or is it somewhat random?

Does anyone know if the Village Beatniks are still performing? They are a percussion group that I saw in early January and very much enjoyed.
