What a WASTE!!! Probably what they would do with WoL.
Why is that a waste?

There was nothing there before and there is nothing there afterwards.

You would most likely be able to view backstage if it was made into a viewing area and in all likelihood it is too small for a restaurant.

Lastly, what does this have to do with Wonders of Life?

This thread humors me.
The railings are simply support structure for an aesthetically pleasing "ring" around the roofline.
You guys put waaay too much thought into this stuff.:zipit::lol:
Agreed. I saw this thing myself on the 25th and the railings are no where near high enough or strong enough to be anything more than a support structure for a facade.

On second review... they wouldnt be too kid friendly either. Thanks for the info on the height level. It is hard to have a perspective on it in a photo.

What? Demo the WoL building and only leave the bathrooms?

I dont agree with you. That area has plenty of crap in it once we started looking at SM without the arcade. Another "something" there isnt needed.

First, if designed right the restaurant wouldn't look at any backstage areas. It could still give a nice view of the Tomorrowland plaza.

Second, look at how they are neglecting WoL. Same as the skyway.

Ah yes, indeed. Hadn't thought of it before, but it appears that the new "railings" will be the backing for a sort of fascia, or new full-height face wall on the building.

Probably a band around the roof line 3-4' in height, sticking out a bit further than the wall below.

The Skyway has been gone for almost 15 years.

WoL has been closed for quite some time as well. It was just such a random thing to stick in there as fearing for next.

"They torn down the Skyway. The Odyssey is probably next."

I was suprised how nice the WoL building still looks inside . I'm telling you, it would make a perfect "moon base" or "mars base". Perfect.

^^^ Besides the fact that it is stuck in the 80's.

Looks like a Bradbury Sun Dome, IMHO. :D

Oh, ok...I misunderstood. Sorry!

It's not too random, after all it is in flux.

They could easily update the interior. What I find so compelling is the buildings shell from the inside. It still looks incredibly futuristic and very much what an "off earth" outpost might look like. Just add some "skylights" with a reddish sky and your on mars. :)

You will not see me disagree.

It's neighbor next door looks hungry, no?:lookaroun

If they tore down the Odyssey i wonder what they would put in its place.

I've confirmed that nothing is going to happen to the top level other than the redesign. There will be no restaurant, viewing area, or anything else. Once complete it will just be a restroom.

Thanks for the confirm, Steve.

I had a feeling this was simply a removal of an attraction infrastructure/eyesore that's been rotting for a decade.
