Lasseter Taking Leave of Absence

Honestly what difference does it make? Either way it says that someone high-up at Disney was aware of his behavior and took action to curb it.

If you think that there isn’t a difference, then harassment will continue.

If you know your employee has a tendency to act sleazy towards women.. but you continue to employ him, without requiring him to get help..and assign a handler in certain public gatherings to reduce chances of misbehavior.. then what is the company actually doing?
Are the assigning someone to him at all times? In every meeting? Are they trying to fix the behavior?

These are answers that folks have to ask themselves.. if the behavior is there, then something more than a babysitter at certain events needs to be done.

Hey HIPAA is important...

Haha. So is my sanity.
I have two boys who are autistic...I lost track of how many copies of HIPPA I get in a single year, never mind how many I've gotten in the 6 years since they both were diagnosed. Stupid waste of paper, IMHO...I should be able to digitally sign that I've already been giving copies and be done with it.

How can Bob Chapek have any vision? He doesn't even have eyes!

Okay, I just laughed outloud for ten minutes straight because of this!
Good thing I didn't have a mouth full of liquid refreshment or it would be all over my screen right about now...!

Actually you can digitally sign under HIPAA, but its up to each provider to setup the service. Not all have set it up yet (or plan to). But there is nothing preventing them from doing so. If you ask a provider and they say they can't, its not true, they just don't want to pay to upgrade their systems to do it.

As for what you get every year, that is likely a provider specific document. I never get anything from my provider other than the initial HIPAA info. However my provider tends to be very digital about everything.

Full Disclosure, I take HIPAA training every year and I work for a large tech company that creates healthcare systems for some of the largest healthcare providers.

It's mostly the schools and specialists that do the overload with the HIPPA documents...every IEP meeting, every time there's an employee change at the center we go to for therapy...it's honestly ridiculous and there should be some kind of uniformity. It's gotten to where they bring the documents anyway and I just say "please don't force those on me".

Well its better they over inform you then under inform, what I always say anyways. They are just making sure they are covered in terms of HIPAA compliance. Patient confidentiality and who has access to those records are very closely monitored, especially as more and more go digital.

Fines for not being compliant can be pretty steep for each patient record out of compliance. Its why I have to take training every year even though I never actually access any patient information.

I am thankful that they're looking out for us, and I willingly sign allowing them all to share information with each other because I'm terrible at remembering who needs what. :)

Its a very large and complex discussion that cannot be done on a Disney forum like this. However cyber security and the healthcare system is one big part of HIPAA.

Just know that patient information, like things related to your sons and their treatment, should already be shared amongst their treating providers without you needing to consent.

I had sort of an epiphany: John Lasseter did some creepy things, but I still love Disney World with all my heart. So, just because some creepy guy did some ttty stuff, doesn't mean I don't love Disney and don't love this website. It's been a pretty great conversation so far, but I kinda want to get back to talking about the parks, not a creepy guy who helped make movies. Good night all!

These kind of things has been going on for a long time. Even Walt has been know for asking his female employees if they wanted to ride his train.
