Journey Into Narnia CLOSING September 10th

What does that have to do with anything? The Journey into Narnia "attraction" was literally just a "coming soon" preview for the movie... which was in and out of theaters three years ago (Prince Caspian)

The Little Mermaid was released in 1989 and they are building a quite LARGE attraction at the Magical Kingdom.

The Little Mermaid 1. is popular, and 2. won't be a waste of 15 minutes.

I hate to sound rude, but the issue is not that Narnia is a 6 year old attraction. The issue is that it's a 6 year old "attraction" that, quite frankly, sucks. The Little Mermaid might be based off of a 22 year old movie, but that movie is a classic.

elecTRONica at DCA is scheduled to run through April, 2012. The strong rumor from Al Lutz is that next summer the street party in DCA will be themed to "Mad Tea Party".

elecTRONica will have run for about 18 months by the time it ends next spring. But honestly, elecTRONica is still wildly popular and the theme (kitschy 1980's meets 21st century sleek nightclub) is embraced by several key theme park demographics and they seem to make a mint off of the bars alone.

The difference is that the Narnia thing at DHS remained for years and years, for no apparent reason. It opened with the first film in December, 2005.

That's almost six years that Narnia has sat there.

It's time has long since passed. It probably should have closed with the end of the 50th Celebration in late 2006.
I feel obligated to say that while it did open for the first film, they did do a refresh for the second film that justified its simple existence for a while. Now I get to say that the second film has been released in theaters, available on DVD, Disney dropped the franchise, someone else picked it up, made the third movie, and THAT movie was released on DVD a while ago and this "attraction" has sat there unchanged the whole time.

I hate even saying this, but an empty space there is probably better. It was just picking weaker members off of the herd headed towards TSMM. Those poor people were probably expecting something more than a movie trailer for an old, mediocre movie.

I want a full-fledged Disney parks museum where it belongs, Downtown -- Downtown Disney, of course. Downtowns of real cities have shops, restaurants, entertainment and theaters, like Downtown Disney does, but they also have museums. Of course, it's a dream, but I've been dreaming about it for quite a while, so it's a really detailed dream by now!

Actually, one of the theme parks is probably where it belongs. One Man's Dream has survived for about ten years now in a park. I don't think DtD aspires to be anything more than a money-making machine. In the theme parks there's some room for "art". I think the theme parks are really more like the downtowns of WDW, and DtD is the big mall out in the 'burbs. :p

When we had dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table, Ariel was the only princess that actually got a standing ovation when she entered the dining room.....

Three down...several to go...

Worst Attractions at WDW:

1. Sounds Dangerous (Presumed dead)
2. Journey into Narnia: Prince Caspian (Closing September 10th)
3. The Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management (Replaced by Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room)
4. Stitch's Great Escape
5. Journey Into Imagination with Figment
6. Studio Backlot Tour

3 of my hit list have been replaced or closed (or presumed closed). Only 3 more to go...

I can replace a couple of those...

Aladdin's Flying Carpets
Tomorrowland Indy Speedway (I mostly hate the smell. I'd take a switch to electric, but I feel like they can do something better with that huge space.)

I don't mind the carpets too much. Not a fan of Speedway, but honestly it is what it is. Kids love it and that's really all it's meant for. I liked it when I was little. The ones on my list were simply bad attractions from the getgo.

I wouldn't mind the speedway if they switched to electric so they could eliminate the smell!

I am surprised no one has mentioned as of yet....this space screams anything related to Pixar. Its proximity (sp?) to TSMM is perfect. An attraction? maybe...TDO can absolutley take advantage of all the foot traffic that goes thru there. All the people standing around waiting for FP. I see a huge Pixar Merch store.

Oh, yeah, there was a sequel back in '08, wasn't there? I forgot about that one.

I loved your analogy of "picking weaker members off of the herd"!

This will be better as empty space for awhile, and much better with a movie from at least this decade in it (Pirates IV).

This is one of the biggest problems with a movie-themed theme park. Unless a film is a classic/blockbuster that has (or will) endure the test of time, movie relevance is short lived. Look at how long Back to the Future lasted at Universal. It was a fun ride but I once saw "face characters" of Marty and Doc Brown standing outside and people were walking by ignoring them. Apparently no one knew who they were. Disney (and Universal) have to be prepared to overhaul their movie attractions from time to time due to their potential short shelf life. As for Narnia... that shark jumped a LOOONG time ago and I'm glad to see it go. (I waited 45 minutes to see THAT???).

I am one of the few that actually like Aladdins Carpets.

Best part of the attraction was knowing exactly what it was going to be like before doing it and watching the faces of the audience as it ended. Priceless.

I went in yesterday for the first time, knowing how bad it was in advance. To see the anger and confusion in people was outstanding. It might be the worst attraction I've ever seen at WDW, but those people make it enjoyable.
