Why

Why does this not get a new movie with the new 3d technology, it would seem like a relatively cheep refurb to make it fresh after all the money they spent on the muppets, why go cheep here? I don't understand?:veryconfu

Beacuse a new movie isn`t needed. The Muppets shouldn`t be a new Philharmagic. Part of the charm is the fact they are puppets.

Cheep? Like Tweet-Tweet? Installing 3D Digital Projectors is not cheap and then converting the film into digital 3D is a expensive process also.

Chalk up another one for thank god the pre-show was not touched. I cant wait to see how nice and clean the film looks. The only thing I would have liked to see is new AAs for Stadler and Waldorf. Only 2 months to go! WOOOHOOOO!

The preshow displays look to have been converted to a digital format, as there are some compression artifacts showing in some areas where there was noice on the originals. The actual screens appear to be the same, enclosed in a box.

The are actually all new monitors.. LED in fact, not LCD.. the boxes were constructructed to give them a footprint similar to the previous monitors, so that they could easily fit the existing infrastucture already in place...

But they are most certainly LED screens now..

Also, from my understanding, the new pre-show production is not complete yet, but it will be soon.. Chalk this up to spacemountain reopening without the green screen being quite ready yet, or TTA reopening, and the narration changing weeks later...

The pre show will be changing, no doubt about it....... Interesting factoid.. apparently the new led tv's in the queue have 3d capability.

Woooooo! No change to the pre-show! It's awesome as it is and it should not be touched due to the fact the genius that is Jim Henson worked on it. I can't wait to see how it all looks for myself.

I had a feeling that the pre-show would end up being like the narration on TTA, in which it will come quite some time afterward. (and it will be horrible) I just REALLY hope this is not the case.

I'm guessing if you are correct on all points, the pre-show could also be 3D using the new LED 3D TV's.

I saw the show yesterday, and I was disappointed with what I saw.

Two of the theater wall projections remained fully lit the entire time (extremely noticeable and looked really bad). The fireworks didn't work as previously posted. The audio was all over the place (you could barely hear Statler and Waldorf or Bean Bunny but the penguin orchestra was extremely loud). The arrows didn't shoot out during the finale. The movie itself looked great - excellent clarity and color, but the theatre effects were actually worse than when I saw it pre-refurb (and that was the night before it went down).

I'm glad the pre-show remained (we went and videotaped the 3 different screens before refurb) but the screens looked horrible. We asked the CM what was wrong with them, and he mentioned that they were actually brand new LCD screens - we couldn't believe it! The color was off on most of them - very yellowish-green. I think maybe only 2 or 3 of them had accurate color.

Overall, I was not impressed - it looked better the night before it went down. I'm very glad the movie and theatre got some TLC, but the effects and audio still need a lot of work. Hopefully it was just a one-time fluke and everything will be up to snuff soon.

I also love how Sweetums is in the end of the movie while he is also out in the theatre - great continuity. :)

That's what I was afraid of.

I think a lot of the issues with the LCDs is down to the source material.

What is going on with Sweetums? I had a report of this also. He is actually in the theater and on screen at the same time. Is the movie a slightly different version than before? Or has the timing of the in theater character changed?

When I saw the show the timing was perfect, he was on screen, then in audience... not both spots.

I happened to catch the first showing of the day when it reopened and I have a few comments that I thought I would share. Some are repeats, just adding my 2 cents.

1. Pre-show video is very noticeably "digitized". Lots of compression artifacts. I'm guessing this is due to the age of the source film they needed to use for conversion. Or perhaps an inexpensive stopgap until a new pre-show video is ready??

2. New monitors in pre-show area definitely need calibrating. Colors from screen to screen are very noticeably off. And to the poster above, they are all LCD's. LED is nothing more than the backlighting source used by certain LCD TV manufacturers. An all LED TV is still a few years off for consumer sizes..

3. This is more of a question than a comment... Looking at the back of theater during the main show, it was clear to see that two projectors were running simultaneously. This was required for the original film 3D projection. My understanding is that Digital 3D uses only a single projector. Was the upgrade to Digital 3D not completed??? Or is there some other explanation for two projectors?? There are plenty of 3D digital projectors capable of filling a screen that large, and with budgets the way they are, I highly doubt they doubled up on new projectors. Anyone know more on this??

I have no idea what was up with Sweetums - it was the weirdest thing! Unfortunately it seemed like a lot of people noticed - I saw quite a few people point up at the screen and whisper to each other. Kinda bad show, and ruins the effect of having Sweetums co-exist between screen and in-person...
