JH MuppetVision 3D reopening report

POW WOW didn't pay for a single thing Sunday night. Disney footed the bill. And placed two girls dancing in clear box-thingies with vodka.

Yes, this is the trendy hip progressive "new Disney".

I saw the refurbed MuppetVision today. The main show was absolutely fantastic, extremely bright and crisp compared to what it was previously. The Vacuumuppet effect worked better than I remember, and there were many more bubbles than I recall. Didn't get wet during Fozzie's squirting flower gag, though from the sound of it, many others did. The long-missing "let's burn rubber" smoke effect was almost there--there was a blast of air, but no smoke. No in-theater fireworks, unfortunately. Like many others, I noticed Sweetums being in two places in once. He is plainly visible on screen while at the same time he is delivering lines in the theater. There really should be some adjustment made to either the film or Sweetums' timing in the theater--it looks really bad.

Any idea which has changed? The actual content of the film or the timing of the in-theater character appearance?

I think the film might have changed. Sweetums' timing didn't seem any different compared to Kermit's and Statler and Waldorf's dialog in that scene.

Just saw Muppets today and the "Lets burn rubber" smoke was working! I don't remember ever having seen the effect before. How long has it not been working for? Also, the video itself looked fantastic, there were definitely more bubbles than I ever remember, and the water effect was working. The only thing that didn't appear to be working was the fireworks on the ceiling.

I actually think neither have changed. I remember seeing this years ago but it just being one of those things like the back of the building didn't have the same background as the wall did. It is a movie about muppets, really we should not be going so deep into it;-) But I will double check in two weeks when I go!

Character intergrity at Disney is sacrid though. They go to huge lengths ot make sure that kind of thing never happens. It seems strange that this is one area that has slipped through the net. I'm 99% sure it wasn't like this before the refurb.

Well, I hate to inform you are 99% wrong.

I was pretty sure there's always been a double sweetums, but just in case I checked with a league of fellow people who have been on Muppetvision many hundreds of times more than even me, and they all knew exactly about it.

It's not that big a deal, there are some fun easter egg mistakes in many Disney shows. Like I said, in Muppets is a much bigger contradiction: Frank Oz. You can totally see him big as life in the bottom left corner in a certain scene I shall remain nameless so you can have fun trying to catch it. Once you do, you'll never not notice it.

And let's not forget the guy who trips up in the back of Captain Eo! These things happen.

Just saw Muppets today and have a brief update.

First, unfortunately the "Let's burn rubber" effect was not working (it had been working the last time I went to see it a couple of weeks ago). There was not even the sound of air without the smoke as some others had reported seeing. Just nothing at all.

Second, there were a ton of bubbles (more than I ever remember seeing before) but it seemed as though the timing was a little off because they were appearing before Miss Piggy got to the line "No troubles as life bubbles on."

Finally (and I saved the best for last), the fireworks effects on the ceiling were working! It has been a long time since I have seen them all functioning properly and it definitely adds to the ending.

P.S. Sweetums is still noticeable on screen when the live character appears in the theater. Even the little boy sitting next to me turned to his mother and said "Why is he two places at once?"
