Janitors on Call with iPhones

A key point of this technology would be to reduce the regularity of such visual inspections.

Knowing that a sensor is malfunctioning is not something that will be readily noticeable by a visual inspection. It is also not the same category of equipment as other bathroom equipment.

At this point you are just nit picking. In model railroading we use the term "rivet counter". The only way to see if this idea will work is to try it and there's no harm in that. If it doesn't work Disney will not roll out the program property wide. It's that simple.

I do find it interesting that the same people who complain about rising prices are the same ones who think there should be a staff member at every restroom. The restroom attendant should most definitely also have body spray, deodorant, tampons, Cologne, gum, mints, and mosquito spray on hand. Also have someone stationed next to every trash can in the park.

Once again a thread is getting ridiculous. I'm going to bow out of this one. Have a magical time with the subject :)

And there is no guarantee that price increases actually mean more services in the parks. It's always possible they will be used to pad Iger's retirement package.

And gosh, having someone hand out spray, cologne and tampons is ALMOST the same as wanting regular in person inspection to make sure the trash cans are open and the toilets are clean. Like to exaggerate much?

No it isn't.

But it's not always better either.
Can you give examples where technology has mad us less productive and efficient that the system before it?

I'm not talking Internet forums, Facebook, and the like. I mean the actual technology.
I can't think of any off the top of my head.

I've used a number of computer programs at work that made me far less productive.

So your contention is that every tech advance is a positive one?

A poster quoted that high end establishments have restroom attendants. Those are the types of items that used to be available with them. Even cigarettes once upon a time.lol

Exaggerating would be to say that Disney wants a phone to clean a bathroom, or that Disney is planning layoffs due to this announcement, or saying that Disney is not capable of handling this technology..

So every bathroom with an attendant has them handing out tampons and cologne and such? I've been in some bathrooms with attendants and never been offered. I feel cheated now.

I'm saying most have been..and I can't think of any that have made us worse off. One that I don't like- chip technology. I use Apple Pay everywhere I can bc the chip just takes too long.. But if it makes things more secure then it's doing the job that it's supposed to...and if comparing it to signing a receipt then maybe the time isn't so long.

It was a response to the yet again ridiculous posts by the same conspiracy theory Disney haters...bc those are the things you would find in plenty of night clubs, lounges, restaurants. Why mention high end places? WDW is not "high end". It's a theme park, an extremely clean one, and they are making efforts to make it even more clean.

Disney's poor history in maintaining [technology] infrastructure is hardly a nit. It is a broad, reoccurring pattern. A short test is not sufficient time to deal with the upkeep of the system.

In cases like this it is the answer, At really expensive venues there is a 'washroom attendant' there full time to keep the facilities sparkling clean and fufill any requests to refill exhausted supplies immediately.
There are few of your thoughts that I agree with, but, in this case if that problem really exists then that would indeed be a doable solution of throwing money at it via more staffing.

Personally, I have never once seen a restroom at WDW that was unacceptable. Was it hospital sterile, no, but, it isn't really a reasonable expectation considering the masses of humanity that make their presence there on a daily basis and are slobs to begin with. Perhaps Disney should institute a new policy that all guests be accompanied by their mommy so that she can clean up after her children no matter their age.

I have a GPS but still prefer a map that lets me see where I am and what I might be missing by taking the "best" way. But then I'm old and senile...

No that's not what I'm saying at all. Currently custodians are either streets or restrooms and that's their job all day. This iPhone idea will allow custodians to be both at the same time which will keep custodians busy but also keep the park cleaner than it would be otherwise.
So you believe there is currently enough custodial staff?

There's an app for that ;)
So? This doesn't involve any other companies.
So that means they shouldn't try?

Should Apple have given/give up every time there was/is a glitch?

I swear if some people here had their way we would be living a 1950s lifestyle.

You all can't really be serious.

Are you capable of having a discussion without constantly resorting to unrelated hyperbole? This has nothing to do with a dislike of technology. Nor does it have anything to do with glitches.

I'll give you one: I was changing planes at Atlanta and needed to double check the gate number (my phone app wasn't working) So in a move to advance technology, the multiple monitors listing arrivals and departures was replaced by one handy dandy touch screen. Well there were several of us gathered around trying to find out about our flights, but we had to access the device one at a time.
I finally gave up and found an available gate agent to help.

Our society is fixated on new and improved. Problem is that it may not be an improvement.

I, on the other hand, have seen dirty smelly bathrooms, overflowing trash cans, trash in ride queues, and overflowing ashtrays in the smoking areas.
I can't argue that people are slobs, but Disney has known this since it's inception. That's the reason there are trash cans at certain spaced intervals throughout the parks. Guests are more likely to use them if they are within sight.
However if the trash cans are overflowing, all bets are off.

Actually incorrect. When DL opened people were much more respectful of others property. Heck people even dressed up to go to DL.
