...I know and my slacker self is supposed to be getting the invites sent out for our 1 year chat! I'm sorry, y'all. We kicked off our 3rd year of homeschool this week. I spent a couple days backing up all of last year's files, creating & printing reports, unloading last year's programs, then loading all of this year's stuff on laptops. I'll definitely have to make it a point to not put this stuff off once we finish school next year. I'll have a cruise to be preparing for!

For sure! And by this time next year it will only be days!!!!!

So I had a dream last night that it was the day to board, I didn't have a passport, I forgot underwear, and whoever I was going on with decided to board without me. Then, once i was on the ship, it was swaying so bad I almost fell off. o_O

That is hilarious! Well you could buy Mickey underwear onboard. And maybe you should stick to the interior of the ship? :)

I'm missing some email addresses so I thought I'd post here to get these people to shoot me their email address via private conversation here. If any of you have email addresses for these ladies cruising with us, send 'em over! I need the following:

If you are not listed here and have not received an email from me (my username is part of my email address, you can't miss it) please let me know asap.

Thanks, ladies!

Last week, I woke up from a bad dream--I arrived at WDW on my upcoming trip (23 days!!) to discover that I'd left my "vacation folder" with all of our plans, conf. #s, etc. at home!!!

Got the email. Very busy with work lately and Hurricane Isaac hit us pretty hard in South Louisiana. We were without power for 7 days. I will definitely try to get online that day. Some text messages from my roomies would be great to remind me.
Also, I can now vouch for Jesemeca, she is not an Axe Murderer. :D

I asked Jess how you did. I was thinking of y'all and watching every bit of coverage I could find. How'd y'all do? Damage? Seven days blows but it sure beats going weeks....like so many of us did after Katrina. I know y'all prob'ly did, too. Still, I know there's a lot still doing without. I'll keep thinkin' of all y'all and hope the world rights itself again for you soon. I think that's the part I hate most: when it's like the world turns upsidedown and all you want is normal again. We'll see ya at chat!

Roof damaged pretty bad. Have to replace whole thing. Water came in through roof and landed on my bed. :( Wind driven rain came through our front door and soaked our carpet. Waiting to hear back from insurance adjuster. So scared our trip to Disney in 79 days will have to be postponed.
All in all not too bad. Katrina was way worse.
Just being without work for a week and no power for a week too. No where to escape.
Lost everything in the fridge and freezers. I think thats the worst. All my wonderful deer meat and shrimp and fish. I could cry thinking about it. But, Could have been way worse and we totally understand that. I will try to remember to sign up to chat with ya'll. I have lots of questions. LOL

Ugh! Hon, if I could get over there I'd help ya with the cleanup and construction. We learned about the wind driven rain coming in the front door at our house after Ike in '08. Bubbled up the hardwood in the entry. Insurance company wouldn't give a nickel for that, said there had to be a broken window or something. They didn't consider wind deflection creating the opening even after Tracey went outside the front door and pushed on it showing them how the seal opens around the side & bottom. Next time we're going to wedge some 2x4s between the bottom step & the front door PLUS be sure to actually put up all the storm shutter panels that came with our house. We've just never put up the hardward to attach them. Or if it happens again we'll break a window panel in the front door. Our house was 2 months old when Ike came and stripped the roof down to naked plywood on the front of the house where my bedroom was. We had water come in and down 2 stories of walls. Every contractor that came out quoted between $25k & $30k to fix everything. Insurance company paid us about $12k. We ended up doing most of the work ourselves and subbing out to the contractors that were brought in by the neighborhood developers (most of the houses were not yet sold & damaged). We closed the gap pretty good. Still, it's really frustrating to pay so dang much for insurance (windstorm especially) and have them refuse to take care of so much. Like the carpet in my bedroom was soaked. They paid what they thought would have it cleaned for us. I asked the adjustor on the phone if he had highly allergic children and he had seen mold under the carpet of his 2 month old house would he be satisfied with having the carpet cleaned. He said, "Well, no." But that's all he'd give us. I promise you next time I will NOT sign a single thing that releases the insurance company until they pay what they should. I think if you let it go long enough there will be a point where they start doing what it takes to get those signatures. There's plenty of lawyers well after the storm still taking those cases. I have no problem whatsoever being one of them next go around. Ya know?

Yeah, no power and no work stinks. After Katrina we were without for over 3 weeks. After Ike we were without for like 10 days. The lack of work/income only compounds the problems. Ugh!

Right before Katrina came hubby had thawed out a big container of shrimp and left it in the fridge. Well, after the storm nobody went to our house for like a week. When hubby finally was there cleaning out the fridge (I was still working nights) that container of shrimp was so swollen on top. He gently got it out and carried it outside. He said when he set it down into a garbage bag the top popped and the stench made him physically sick. Ugh! That's one I'm glad I wasn't able to take care of. LOL! Are people doing like they did after Katrina with their fridges? On the northshore people would leave 'em like they were, roll 'em out of the house, wrap 'em with duct tape, and park 'em at the curb. We cleaned ours because it was a new Maytag. A year later the computer fried and the repair guy said it was probably the brown-outs when the power was trying to come back that ultimately did it in. Repairing it was almost as much as buying another so we took it to the dump. Made me sick. I loved my Maytag!

Definitely Katrina was way worse.

Been thinkin' of Jess's uncle who lives in LaPlace. We have friends there, too, that we haven't been able to get in touch with. My heart goes out to everyone. Horrible-canes stink!

If you have questions but might not make it to chat you could send your questions to someone else (Jess maybe?). We'll get 'em answered then you can pop into the chat via that link for up to like 2 weeks after and read the transcript history. Just an idea! We can do more chats later, too. I'd love to see ya there Sunday, tho.

Sending all my love to y'all over there. If there's anything you need I *may* be coming thru that way in a week or so to go to my folks' house in Alabama. I can swing down your way and bring ya supplies and such if needed. K?

Kelly, I know you asked about Belle Terre, I couldn't find out anything about that area. But my uncle lives in the neighborhood right behind the Sonic, and he had 8 inches of water in his house. But the closer to Airline you were the less water you had. I don't know if this helps with your friends or not.

I think they were further back. It wasn't that close to Airline. They never would've bought a house that close to their store or a store location close to their house. When I worked for them after Brian was born to pay off some medical bills (yeah...me carhopping on skates 3 weeks postpartum!) it was a big deal to not let others know that we were friends. They tried to keep employees from knowing where they lived for obvious reasons. I remember when we'd drive from our townhouse over to their house it was weaving thru Belle Terre back behind where the Sonic is now (this was back before they moved from in front of Walmart next to McD's). It was kinda further back. I know we had to cross a bridge over a canal and that wasn't far from them. I'm pretty sure they took water. I should try again to contact them and see if there's anything we can do. I could take the boys over, sleep in our truck, and do a couple days of work gutting things. We've done it before.... **sigh**

Dearest friends in Des Allemandes and others in Raceland did great. No water. No significant wind damage other than some knocked down fence panels. They were blessed. Really.
