Wow I was really anti, but they actually look great! I LOVE the Lion King scene! IMHO, they should leave the Disneyland- It's a Small World as is since its the Original. But I feel the same way about the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland as well.

The only problem I have is Stitch. Maybe if they changed the song to "It's a small cosmos", since he is from another planet:ROFLOL:. Tinkerbell is a problem also, but she at least looks mostly human.

I actually disagree on Stitch. He and Balu look strange enough so that they kind of fit in with some of the other animals.

IMO, they look good. But it seems that some of the characters dont belong, like theres to many. Nemo and Bambi and maybe even Simba and the gang shouldnt be there imo, atleast not at Dl the original. IMO, it should have just been human disney characters, ones that fit in well with the particular look of the dolls.

Yes! I think you said what I said, only better. The Humans fine, great even, but leave the animals out. They look odd and don't fit.

There has been a lot of controversy on the Stylized characters going to Hong Kong Disneyland and Anaheim's Disneyland's version of it's a small world. The official site of Hong Kong Disneyland has posted pictures:

Go down to the Dolls and Characters Section, and then See Disney Characters

First of all, thanks for the great link. Always good to mix some substance in with the wild conjecture! I had some reservations, but overall, think they fit in just fine with the ISW artistry and theme. OK, for the DL folks, if they want to preserve it, I can understand....after all, we need to go there to see Toad and the real Tiki birds.

I think that they look really good. I doubt that most people would even recognize some of them as Disney characters. I do not see where they would take away from the attraction at all. In fact their addition will more than likely make kids enjoy a ride that for most non-Disney fans is a snooze fest.

Aren't the same folks complaining about this the ones that usually dis this ride in the first place and swear never to go on it voluntarily?

The only thing I see that is slightly controversial is Stitch. Defies logic that Stitch is considered a classic Disney character. Absolutely don't understand the whole stitch hype. Otherwise I think they are great even in Disneyland!

That was my first reaction to Stitch....but there are other fantasy elements if I remember....dragon?, Leprechauns and the like. (I'll try to leave my personal Stitch dislike out of it). As for bambi and thumper at the north pole...maybe they should give bambi a glowing red nose?

For the people saying the animals don't seem to fit...is it just because they're animals or more of a stylistic concern? Saying they don't mesh well with the human dolls really seems neither here nor there to me. Since the ride is already full of animals, the more appropriate comparison would be how they mesh with the existing animal figures.

I think most of them fit fine...Baloo, the Lion King characters, Bambi and Thumper all seem to be made in the same "blocky" style as the other animals in the ride. Nemo and Dory aren't very different from their characters design wise, but they seem to have a flat, almost 2-D look that I think correlates with the feel of the ride.

Donald and friends, as well as Marie, do stand out a bit as fairly unaltered three-dimensional representations of themselves, but they're the exceptions, I'd say.

On the whole, they don't look all that bad. I agree that the doll figures look much nicer than the animal figures. Not all together happy that they are there, but in that style, they should fit in fairly well with the original attraction.

That was my thought as well!

Being one of the few to actually ride the Hong Kong attraction, I can say the added characters do not take away anything from this ride. Its still got all the Small World elements you love and nothing in this attraction is distracting. My only problem is not using the flooded scenes, like some of the other versions do. Everything is just to in your face and to close up. Apart from that an excellent version of the attraction and I love the new scenes.
