It Was a Grand Fantasyland Opening Indeed!

What – The Fantasyland Grand Opening!

When – December 5-7, 2012

Who – Jenell - @GrumpysWife - and Myself!

Why – Well because we could of course! And also, the agency got an invite to the grand opening festivities and awesome owner Pam sent Jenell and I as representatives. The catch was that only one of us could get in to the official festivities, but hey – I had a newly purchased Annual Pass from my November trip, my camera, and a free room at Beach Club with Jenell. I wasn’t complaining! Here we are:

Wednesday, December 5th –

We were only going for two nights, so we had to make the best of it! We left crazy early on the first day and came back late on the third day! I was meeting Jenell at the Baltimore airport. I usually fly out of Dulles, which is much closer, but this was good for Jenell and we got an awesome rate on Southwest.

My dear hubby drove me all the way out there before going to work that morning. We left the house at 4 am! Yikes! Jenell arrived a few minutes after me and we had an uneventful flight down. We even landed about 40 minutes early! Yay! We were actually on Magical Express at the time we were scheduled to land, which I think was 8:45 if I remember correctly.

We both caught up on some work on the way to the Beach Club.

The 50mm is awesome. I'd definitely recommend it. I have also heard great things about the Sigma 30mm too!

Is one better then the other (the 50mm is a little more expensive), or would I be fine with either lens

I haven't used the Sigma so I can't say for sure, but I think you'd be happy with either. The Sigma is a little wider which is nice indoors.

Well, the one I was looking at was a Nikor lens (I think). Would that make a difference?

Ahh. I am not familiar with Nikor at all. I'd go on Amazon and read the reviews!

Tonight Jenell was going to the big media party in Fantasyland, so I made my own plans.

I was meeting a friend’s son tonight to pick up a Christmas present. He was down for the college program. He made an appearance in a previous trip report, and his parents cruised with us to Canada so they were in that trip report! He was on his way out of town, so we decided to meet at Downtown Disney.

We’d learned from our previous stay at Saratoga Springs that the walk to Downtown Disney from there is nice. So I hopped on a bus from Magic Kingdom to Saratoga and walked.

I was early so I did a little browsing. Hey, I know him!

After we met, I decided I needed to visit the best sandwich shop there is! Earl of Sandwich of course.

My favorite – Caribbean Jerk Chicken Sandwich:

I caught a bus to Boardwalk so I could catch a boat to the Studios. I actually got off at the Swan:

My goal was the Osborne lights and I went straight there! I’ve said it before, what I wouldn’t give for a tripod and an empty street.

If it looked like I walked in circles, I did.

So the Osborne Lights were gorgeous, as always! I headed out!

The line for the boat was huge, so I decided to walk instead. It was a little darker on the path then I would have liked, considering I was alone, but the view was nice!

About this time I started getting texts from another agent that the dragon was out at Magic Kingdom!! Oh my word!! The dragon!! I was praying Jenell saw it, and combing the skies for it. After I spent some more time watching the technology online I realized I wouldn’t have seen it anywhere Disney didn’t intend it to be seen.

Jenell was texting me pictures from the media event for instagram. It was full of celebrities, food and rides. Unfortunately it was not full of the dragon for her, because no one knew he was coming and no announcements were made when he came!! So Jenell was on a ride when he was there! Ah man!! But she did send some fun pictures and had a great time.

When I got back to the room, I caught up on some work, and yay! Top Chef was on! So I watched until Jenell got back to fill me in on her party.

We had an early morning tomorrow! It was the Grand Opening! And of course, Disney was releasing the cruise line’s 2014 itineraries to the public the next morning. While they had a ton of travel agents busy with the grand opening. Thanks for that, Disney.
