Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

I'm not saying I WANT them to get rid of it, but they seem to want to our the "Studios" theme, plus it's back in an area that's currently inaccessible to guests (although may eventually be expanded as a part of Pixar.

Point is, it doesn't really fit all that well with the park anymore. Back when Ryan Gosling and JT were back there buddying it up? Sure. But these days, there is no "Studio" anymore. Even the faux studio elements are being cut out (American Idol Experience, Jack Sparrow, Studio Backlot Tour)

I wouldn't be surprised either. It's located in the Baclot Tour, which is being demolished anyway, and there's no studio theme in the park anymore. Wouldn't be surprised if it disappears soon.

Now an open air stage that's slightly higher than a planter, that fits the area and the theme, with retractable lighting trusses and well placed and themed control booths could be another matter. Kind of like that other park has infront of its icon.

That is true. Ok, they can do that, but anything bigger, no!

The shouldn't get rid of it. Even though it's misplaced and seems a bit tacky where it is, it WILL be missed once it's gone. If anything, they should move it, possibly place it on the hill as guests walk up to Fantasmic. Put it where the strollers are parked. It DOES tie in to Fantasmic.

As much as I'd like to see this thing torn down, shredded, pounded into dust, placed into a container, and buried a mile below the dirt I do see your point. Get it out of the current location and put it somewhere it might have some use. Rain cover for stroller parking at Fantasmic.

I thought there was an issue with placing it in front of Fantasmic because of it being in the sight line between Morocco and the Tower of Terror. Unless that was debunked. There was a discussion about it somewhere.

Actually I'd love it over at Fantasmic. I never understood why it was built in front of the Great Movie Ride when it so clearly belongs over by Fantasmic.

Yep, the same thing happened with the Epcot wand, but IMO the wand was much worse

I would agree with that sentiment.
The 'Hat' may block the view of the beauty behind it, but the 'Wand' truly visually decimated the grandeur of Spaceship Earth.

Ahhh...i remember the glorious day when it was officially announced the 'Wand' was finally being removed ( and just in time for EPCOT's 25th Anniversary too! )
Who here remembers 'Wand Watch 2007'....?

Here is a image that perfectly captures the happiness fans were feeling that day -

Looking forward to 'Hat Watch 2015' !

I recently had an argument in the park with my cousin (who is apparently a 'hat lover' of the new school park-goer). After several annoyed sounds everytime we got close to the perimeter of the hat, she finally asked what I was doing. Then, after ranting for several minutes about the temporary hatastrophy, she came right back with her own.......

'Hatastrophy'.

Great term for it !

:D

Fantasmic itself is right between, but the walkway up to it isn't, from what I can see on Google maps.

Length of stay was not my point. I commented that the Pepto Bismal pink birthday cake Castle was too much. When you blasted me, I pointed out that many of you have spent pages - now up to 115 - complaining about the Hat, how it ruined the park, it needs to be torn down, I will personally blow it up, give me a sledge hammer, I will pay Disney to let me dismantle it, etc., etc. My point was, if you can spend years, pages, denigrating the Hat, I can then do a single post denigrating what Disney did to that beautiful castle in 1996. And I didn't insult your opinion about the Hat....

"Mom, wanna see the pictures I took of our trip to Walt Disney World?"
"Sure, love to see them."
"Here they are"
"What IS that pink thing Susie [name changed to protect the innocent] is standing in front of? It's ugly"
"Oh, that's Cinderella's Castle"
"Cinderella's Castle. That lovely castle in the Magic Kingdom. The one that looks like Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland?"
"Yup"
"I don't remember it looking like that when your father and I visited a couple of years after the park opened. What did they do to it?"
"They made it some sort of birthday cake for a celebration - I think it was the 25th anniversary"
"Really? And they made it that pink and gaudy? What were they thinking?" And then the tsk, tsk, tsk that all mothers do.....
First of all.... It was never my attempt to "blast" you personally. It was a general statement because of my frustration with those that had such a out of place reaction to the castle cake. It was a plastic cake covering a plastic castle. Not one bit of reality to either one of them. It was a whimsy that all that complaining has now eliminated from the parks. And that is what upsets me. Was it beautiful? Hell no, but, it was different and it conveyed a spirit of fun and celebration. That is all it ever was. If it had stayed as long as the BAH I would be screaming louder they you are. However, you certainly have a right to not like it because it was pink or gaudy or both. That is you're personal taste. I also have a right to defend it, try to explain what I believe it's purpose was supposed to be at the time. I looked at it and saw a marvel, not only in engineering but in the talent and effort that was expended to have something like that be so completely definable, sitting over the outside of something so unrelated. I guess I am the only one that appreciated the time, energy and money that went into that one time attraction.

You talk about reading so many pages of people, including myself, hating the hat and the wand. None of us hated it until it stayed to long. Besides this was a thread with sorcerer Mickey hat in the title. It said nothing about the castle. The castle cake has been gone for 15 years now after only a stay of 1.5 years, the time of the celebration promotion.

Anyway, let's end this. I wasn't intending to insult you, you took it that way. We both dislike and like what it was for two completely different reasons. In the mean time I want the hat gone. It doesn't have to be destroyed, but, it needs, at the very least to be moved to a more appropriate location.

Why are new users treated as suspicious? Plenty of people are new. Everyone is new at some point.
and usually new accounts are created by Disney PR brigade to sway the opinions when a big problematic theme appears in the forums. (Example... Frozen ).

These accounts are always "oh gods, disney cant go wrong.. best idea EVER!" to anything that happens that looks completely dumb for most of the forum goers.

Oh those kinds of accounts. I really never understood the point in those. They're never convincing. I don't know why Disney needs to convince people because they should know opinions don't matter. They'll always make a fortune regardless of what some people may think of the parks. I mean people still flock to DHS even if there's nothing much to do there anymore.

Just proves how little some people care about proper theming.

"Yay, Frozen in Norway!!! Boo, hat leaving and restoring a proper view down Hollywood Blvd.!!!!!"
...you just gave me the BEST idea!!! They should just move the BAH from it's current location and plop it right smack dab in the middle of the Norway pavilion to complete it's Toonification!!! People will LOVE IT!!!
