Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

Y'all need to stop beating up on poor LeRaposa. The guy just signed up today. And he made a sarcastic remark. Because no one ever makes sarcastic remarks on this forum...

It was the quick defense, as a new member, of the other comment that seemed suspicious. Still is.

Perhaps he's just quick witted? :)

"I remember when we had to walk to the Magic Kingdom. Uphill both ways. And we liked it!"
Barefoot as well.

Every time I see this picture I just want to vomit. Was this Eisner's folly? If not, has the individual responsible for this monstrosity been shown the door? I sure hope so, because I'm going to be at Disneyland next year during the 60th and I will be apoplectic if Sleeping Beauty Castle looks like this....
You're right! I mean after all, who would go to a Disney Theme Park with any degree of ability to recognize whimsy, fun and enjoyment. "To all those that enter, welcome! Except for that take the place so seriously that any fun thing we might think up will offend you. In that case, perhaps, a tour of a prison complex would be more to your liking.":cautious:

Don't have problem with whimsy and fun, I like whimsy and fun. I do, though, have a problem with turning an icon into a Pepto Bismal pink tacky birthday cake.....

EDIT: Because if you all can complain about how the BAH ruined the view down Hollywood Boulevard and Hollywood Studios in general, then I can complain about what Disney did to Cinderella Castle during the 25th anniversary celebration. I was there. It was pink, a bright, omg what were they thinking, pink. So there. :p

Yeah, but the difference is that that was an actual temporary thing...

Oh, pish posh, same thing. I liked the Hat, hated the pink birthday cake castle. He hated the Hat but apparently liked the pink birthday cake Castle. I, however, wasn't insulting.....

I was there twice and, unlike the hat and the wand, it was obvious that it wasn't going to stay that way. And it didn't stay any longer then what was planned. It was just a way to celebrate that anniversary and no one can come up with any logical reason why it would have stayed any longer then that. The other two were additions and not coverups in the same sense.

Pink? What's wrong with pink for a birthday cake? Would it have been better if it had been chocolate frosting or perhaps vanilla? It was cute, creative and fun and showed that they were willing to spend a lot of money to entertain. (can you imagine how much that overlay cost) Haven't seen them do that much since then have you? Now instead of spending money to amuse the Guests, they take it home as a bonus. I'll bet they have cake to celebrate that.

Length of stay was not my point. I commented that the Pepto Bismal pink birthday cake Castle was too much. When you blasted me, I pointed out that many of you have spent pages - now up to 115 - complaining about the Hat, how it ruined the park, it needs to be torn down, I will personally blow it up, give me a sledge hammer, I will pay Disney to let me dismantle it, etc., etc. My point was, if you can spend years, pages, denigrating the Hat, I can then do a single post denigrating what Disney did to that beautiful castle in 1996. And I didn't insult your opinion about the Hat....

"Mom, wanna see the pictures I took of our trip to Walt Disney World?"
"Sure, love to see them."
"Here they are"
"What IS that pink thing Susie [name changed to protect the innocent] is standing in front of? It's ugly"
"Oh, that's Cinderella's Castle"
"Cinderella's Castle. That lovely castle in the Magic Kingdom. The one that looks like Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland?"
"Yup"
"I don't remember it looking like that when your father and I visited a couple of years after the park opened. What did they do to it?"
"They made it some sort of birthday cake for a celebration - I think it was the 25th anniversary"
"Really? And they made it that pink and gaudy? What were they thinking?" And then the tsk, tsk, tsk that all mothers do.....

I'd prefer a fountain, or a greenery area with a small statue in the middle, but if it must be a stage, I hope it's like the one at MK with no 'roof' to block the view.

Based upon the two photos provided, I think going back to the greenery area with a statue of Walt in his early days with a film camera is an excellent idea, so I'm seconding your suggestion.

This was just on the local news again tonight about the hat, people complaining because its going away,,,yet they didnt really cover complaints about maelstrom. Funny how the news picks up on certain things. At least they showed how much better it looked before the hat.

Just proves how little some people care about proper theming.

"Yay, Frozen in Norway!!! Boo, hat leaving and restoring a proper view down Hollywood Blvd.!!!!!"

Just show them this and see if they still feel the same way....

"Do you wanna build an icon?"

"Ray, turn on your proton pack, and remember, don't cross the beams!"
