Is Tapestry of Dreams still have a chance

I, however, hated ToD. I still watched, because things I loved about the original were still there, but other things really bugged me. Those new fairy characters were really annoying (though the Dreamcatcher float was kind of cool), and I hated the additions to the soundtrack... all the kids saying, "My dream is... " "My dream is..."

Ugh, I hated those kids voices! "I dream I can ride a dinosaur!" :hurl:

ToN was definately superior, the sage of time was such a cool character. And the music is undoubtably some of the best ever written in WDW history.

Is there possibility that the WS walkways could be reworked so that there's less traffic problems for the parade? I would seriously love to have it back...

This forum, to me, seems to have such a hatred for ToD and forgets the actual differences in the parades themselves!

As I see it, ToN was all about a grand celebration for the millennium, all the nations of the world, etc. And of course to many people, this is a major, and amazing, part in WDW history.

ToD, on the other hand, was, in my view, the real start of the 'Dreams' era of parades and was still as good as ToN, but to different people. Some may have seen its predecessor as long and all too samey. I can't say that I watched ToN, but I did see ToD when I was 10 years old, and when you're that small, those beautiful puppets towering oevr you and ideas of dreams filling your ears in that beautiful music, which had some good differences to ToN I think, that was magic. And surely that's what it's all about? The magic...

Apologies for the rant, but I don't think it's fair to belittle something many people enjoyed...
But that's just my opinion :)

No apologies needed... but those of us who didn't like ToD and who think it was less than ToN were just expressing our opinions, too. I'm glad you enjoyed ToD. To me, it still had alot of the elements that made ToN so great, the music, the puppets, the drum floats... For me personally, there were just enough changes that I didn't like to make me have very negative memories of the whole ToD change.

You were young when you saw ToD, and you said you'd never seen the original, so I can totally see you loving it. I might have too if I'd never seen ToN. But it's like with anything... most people who know and love an orignal attraction always tend to have problems when it's changed or replaced. And for people who loved ToN, change was definitely NOT good.

I loved ToN. I can't remember which trip we saw it. It was either Nov 2000 when we were dating or Nov 2001 for our Honeymoon. That parade just left an air of happiness and enjoyment. Every time I hear the song play, it makes me happy no matter how down I am.

I saw ToN twice during my first and second trips in 11/99 and 6/01 respectively but I cannot count the amount of times I have listened to the music. Even without the physical parade the music still plays after IllumiNations and that is good enough for me.
I might have seen it with you! :D

And yeah, I always just have to sit on a bench in WS and hear ToN play after RoE. It's great. Old music should ALWAYS be kept in the park.
According to the back-story the Sage of Time can only walk the Earth every thousand years or 999 in case they need him to stay for another 9 months..:animwink:

It's not the greatest quality video, but this is the most-complete video I've yet to find online of the entire parade, especially one taken at night (when I think the parade was most beautiful and had the greatest impact)

Oh, and may favorite, most "goosebumpey" moment in the parade comes at about 17:30 in the video... What other parade at WDW elicited gasps, whoops and spontaneous applause?

Goosebumps. Every time. Much more powerful than the sunset version, which did the same thing, but LIT the torches for RoE. So cool.

And IMHO....They could EASILY have the ToN puppets out for Meet and Greets.:lookaroun

Yeahhhh.......no.

See, I feel they're more of the parade characters they were back in 1999. Not a M&G in a corner of EPCOT. I would rather have that special moment of meeting them from the parade route instead. It's more personal and special, when compared to a M&G with an allotted time to return. :lookaroun

I just want to see them back. My original post was tongue in cheek...

ooh, you're not kidding about the goosebumps... and I am a giant sap when it comes to ToN, but I totally just teared up at the part right after that, when the lights came up and everyone cheered again... God I miss that parade!!!

I loved the sound of the drum floats as they came down the walkway getting louder and louder... that's one thing that's missing when I listen to the track from the CD. though, I can still hear the drum parts in my head as I listen...

It was the the voice overs, if anything that killed it. They could have sounded
much more mature, and instead of nixing the Sage of Time, they could have kept him, with the Dreamseekers. But yeah, besides that...At least it had the ToN puppets.

In addition to the cringe-inducing voiceovers (the children were not nearly as bad as the Dreamseekers - holy cow, could anything be more overdone.), ToD trampled on the masterful Greenaway score.

Not only were a couple of the best musical moments cut, but the remaining best moments were drowned out by said voiceovers. Extremely aggravating. Anyone wondered why Greenaway has never done anything else for Disney?

And the cymbals, rattlers, chimes, and other crap on the puppets that were annoying, the changed personalities of some of the puppets (Hammered Man was less majestic and more of a jerk), etc etc. The list goes on.

I'm surprised he hasn't done much else at all. At least in terms of composing. He's conducted a lot of Hans Zimmer's work, but never composing. I wonder why, he has a ton of talent. Its no easy feat composing arguably one of the best musical pieces (ROE & TON) in WDW history. He also did the music for TDS' BraviSEAmo score, which is also magnificent.

ToN was the best parade.

EVER.

ToD was Wishes mini, except it was in Epcot, therefore angering me even more.
 That is so true.

Actually, I think the puppets would've been great for the celebrate street party thing. They would've fit right in, and spiced it up a bit more.
Good idea, but in MK those would have looked a bit odd.

Shoulda had a Celebrate Today thing in EC, then...

He did BraviSEAmo. I hope he comes back, too.
