Wait' what happened?, the changed personalities of some of the puppets (Hammered Man was less majestic and more of a jerk), etc etc. The list goes on.
Wait' what happened?
Any specific examples? Some of the puppets routines, dances, and characteristics were swapped out in ToD. Watch some of the videos and you can tell the difference, and it was confirmed by CMs and creators.

Why did they change it? If they are having so much money problems they obviously have no problem spending money to dumb things up.
Well' they kind of had to. The back story for the original parade was that the Sage of Time can only walk the earth every thousand years' essentially at the beginning of every Millennium. So naturally with such a tight back story they would have to change or get rid of it at some point. They kind of pushed it in 2001 but I guess it was early enough in the Millennium that the Sage could extend his walk. Then came Tapestry of Dreams. Essentially Tapestry of Nations was "locked" into the Millennium Celebration. One thing about the parade that is timeless is of course the music and the belief that the human spirit prevails over all the darkness of the world and that message is visible today with all the caring and charity work going on in Haiti. Why did they change it? But then they would contradict the existing back story. They could have EASILY changed the narration to have kept Sage.

Nah' It really worked in that context. I don't think the character would have worked outside the Millennium Celebration.Well worth it, I think.

For credibility's sake yes we do. I think in retrospect I think the way it played out was the best possible way if they had done a better job on Tapestry of Dreams.Who cares? You don't need to be that up tight on a simple back story.
My favorite. First time i saw it, I sat with my jaw on the floor. Truely the best I have ever seen. Just loved it... and traditionally, im not a big parade type person.LOVED ToN...ToD, too, even though it was the lesser version.
Sigh...A parade in EPCOT really was a great thing. So many great memories from ToN.
That was the only thing that bothered me. You were paralyzed and couldnt seem to get anywhere if/when that parade was coming.Nope. Along with the reasons Martin gave the parade made WS a nightmare to try and get through.
They could have amended it. RoE is still around, and that's for the Millennium, too.For credibility's sake yes we do. I think in retrospect I think the way it played out was the best possible way if they had done a better job on Tapestry of Dreams.
Nor am I...and yeah, same reaction. My favorite. First time i saw it, I sat with my jaw on the floor. Truely the best I have ever seen. Just loved it... and traditionally, im not a big parade type person.
.
Yes but ROE is more about how all the people of the world are one human race and that together we are moving forward as one into the future. That is a timeless theme. Tapestry of Nations' the Sage of Time in particular were more based around the Millennium. They could have amended it. RoE is still around, and that's for the Millennium, too.

It actually says 2000 (MM) on his robe.True, but the Sage of TIME? Easily could be made to represent the whole "new age" feel of EPCOT 2000.
