Is Rock 'n' Roller Coaster changing its theme soon?

Green Day sucks. They're Hot Topic punk wannabes. Whining pop music does not punk make. A lot of the troglodytes I went to high school with, who loved Green Day (American Idiot era) and thought they were "punk and anti-establishment, man!" couldn't even name me a Pennywise or Dead Kennedy's song. Buying patches with the safety pin already on for aesthetics and not function. Ugh this grinds my gears.

Although you allegedly started it IMHO you colonials never really got punk. Green Day were just a garage band. good live but corporate Hos all the same. Still no punk no Maiden et all. Motorhead were punk to some, but they just played Rock n Roll. ;)

Aerosmith headlined Download two years ago so not all sub 20 year olds in the UK are that unaware.

Download isnt what it was, to top download or reading & leeds these days isn't as important as it was in the 90s.

working in music biz myself, i know how easy it is to get a main stage slot these days. it would suprise people.

Festivals are dying (and the music biz is dying too)

> doesn't think Aerosmith is popular
> suggests Green Day

:hilarious:

You know Green Day are still like one of the biggest bands on the planet right? lol. they are especially huge in the UK since American Idiot.

Festivals are dying? What in as much that there are more festivals now than ever? Youre right Download isnt what it was, it was Monsters of Rock a 1 day 1 stage festival, its shell now that its 3 days 4 stages.
Reading in its modern Form and Leeds have been crap for years as they are neither one thing or another so dont know what demographic to chase in todays fractured market.
Growth is in cruises and specialist weekends at holiday resorts out of season.
Green Days pseudo punk, sanitised anti American posturing is why they are popular in Europe and Id imagine why they'd never be in a Disney park.

Good luck with the career, handing out flyers is a much undervalued marketing technique.

And the Kardashians have high ratings on E!, that doesn't make that a quality show, either.

having a high rating on E! and having a net worth is 2 different things.

Also, you could argue that the Kardashians are clever at what they do, not that it doesnt make them terrible. but they are clever.

You're missing the point. Just because something is popular, or someone has made a lot of money, doesn't mean their work is inherently good, quality or worth consuming - ergo my Kardashian example. I don't think that show is worth watching, but people watch anyway. Same with Green Day. Their music isn't worth listening to, but people do, and the band has made money regardless. The consumer isn't always right.

but you are just stating an opinion. just like mine is. so this arguement really isnt going anywhere. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Nationally? No. Never a solid radio market outside of underground and college stations, and Tipper would have lost her hair if they had. But local bands like Fugazi and Naked Raygun kept it going, albeit on the (ironically) quiet side....

Ramblin Man, Stone Free, Steelhouse, all rock festivals, all new beasts more or less, Isle of White resurrected from the grave. Theres at least 4 bands playing stadium size events, across the UK. Green Days biggest ever gig is still Wembley is it not, does that mean they are dying too?

I would mention Glasto but thats a music festival for people that dont like music that much. A lifestyle thing I believe.

Do you have one of those spinning notice boards then?

Only some of what I said is opinion (Green Day sucks), but it is true that something being popular = good. That's a fact. If mass suicides suddenly were popular... nevermind

Depends, Green Day's biggest gigs in the UK is probably Milton Keynes Bowl. 2 nights in a row sold out. 65,000 people per night. or yes wembley a single sold show to 90,000

LOL. Just because you think that certain things are bad does not mean that others share the same opinion. Passing opinion as fact is already bad, but calling people wrong for having a different opinion is, well, terrible.

You are basically saying that you since think Green Day is bad, but others listen to their music, those others are wrong? No. They just have different tastes than you. Someone might think that spending hours on this forum isn't worth the time, but you do it anyway. Does that make you not right???

And it was a good show, but then so was Kiss who played to 80K last year on Sunday at Download. And they have been irrelevant for decades but they do know how to put on a show.

And your putting words into my mouth. So thanks for that!

Objectively speaking, something popular or something that makes a lot of money doesn't automatically equate quality or a good product. That is all I am saying.

Don't be dense.

Green Day still sucks, though.
