Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

The truck hasn't gone through the outdoor portion since at least February of this year. I rode it and went through that part first weekend of February and haven't seen it since. Last time I rode it (June), the audio was out of sync with what was happening on the screens. Then it broke down in the room with the Kong animatronic and I got to see him "reset".

I also agree with your previous post that wait times at Universal fluctuate really hard, more so than at Disney. I have Express after 4 with my AP so I usually hit up the parks around that timeframe and the waits just drop really hard (minus the two big coasters of course).
We have the same passes. I never pictured myself as someone who'd get their car valet parked at a theme park but here I am. 🤷‍♂️

As for Kong outside, I can say it hasn't been like that the whole time. We went two weekends in a row recently. The first weekend, it did go outside and the second, it was back inside, again.

Just seems weird that for what it is, they have so much trouble with it, especially compared to it's rougher cousin in the other park.

Maybe the outside exposure with the vehicles has been causing some sort of problem?

And I see what you did there ;)

If at least one person caught it, I'm happy. ;)

We will be putting that to the test next year - early stages of a Europe trip for next August (though looking to do 3 weeks)
Lol, I guess I travel differently. Just got back from Spain. Air and hotel was 4k and it was just me, 7 days. I probably dropped another 500-600 on food.
I'm in lagos Portugal for 5 days in August. Air and hotel $2800 for 1. No food or transfers yet.

Ok...here we go again. First the internet claimed that Disney's studios are in finacial trouble. NOT TRUE!

Then the internet claimed that Disney was in serious legal jeopardy over Reedy Creek. NOT TRUE!

Now the internet says that Disney Parks attendance is down....more,..NOT TRUE!

People are trying has hard as they can to paint a picture that Disney is not doing well. Uggg...it's just more haters and trolls just stomping their feet.

Yes,...DIsney has had a touch of bad luck lately but the truth is that everything is generaly FINE and everything will get back to normal very shortly.

People need to stop being so negative!

I think the desires still there, just not at the current prices. I’ve got the Disney itch and looked again just last night and even with the “up to 35% off” offer, the cheapest room at POFQ (for Dec 3-10) was $305 a night. With tickets for the 2 of us it was over $3600 for the week, add another $700 for flights, and a couple hundred a day for food, drinks, etc and it’s a $6000 week.

Needless to say I didn’t book it and started looking at other options, likely another cruise.

I think the “sold out” was a result of staffing rather than tickets sold. I think they looked at the forecast last week and just decided to cut way back on staffing and call it sold out.
I'd kill for $700 airfare. :)

Our airfare earlier in June for 4 of us was $2,100

It is a bit cheaper other times of year - we are going end of August and POR is $200.25/night for Riverview 5 sleeper

$305 after the discount for a moderate is kinda nuts
It’s completely nuts. The price of “moderates” has been a good indicator of how far off track pricing has become for quite awhile

They flirted with that “well it’s location now…” stuff a few years ago…

No. It’s really not. The hotels were built to provide a specific amount of amenity for their relative price.

You don’t wave a wand and act like it doesn’t apply anymore.

I don’t disagree with any of this

…which means they got a huge problem…don’t they?

Based on all the business cards I saw on the strip last time I was there, quite a lot.

We even have our own “SSE” now (my soon to be second job), they turned on the Sphere lights for the first time tonight.

Pretty cool, ours is 3 times larger though and covered in a full video screen, from videos I can’t decide which I like better, will decide once I see ours in person.

Excalibur is $59 a night that week, most the nice hotels are around $125, even Bellagio would only be $243 a night.

Vegas prices itself accordingly to sell out though, we know we’ll make it back in other ways, it seems WDW would rather leave a room empty rather than offer steep discounts.

Our last trip I paid just under $350 a night for POFQ, with the “up to 35% off” offer I was expecting $250 or less, I should have known better.
Loved Sin City buffets and quality. For around $50 per person compared to What you can get at WDW , but right, the room rates are incredible in Vegas on certain times of year and nights. That's $20 trick to the Vegas front desk staff does work to get an upgrade. Not sure if the bribe can work on a CM at Yacht & Beach.

So a day to think about it, here is what I've got. I really thought this week would be awful. Even last week I checked for rooms for the week, and could get into any resort other than carribean beach, but still figured itll be a mob. So I think attendance is way down. Then, add in that MK and Epcot were the only 2 to see fireworks for the 4th, I think that anyone here was at those 2 parks, making DHS and AK literally the smallest crowd I've ever seen at WDW (literally lighter than Cedar Point when we go during the week before school is out). I'll be curious if MK is way down today because everyone went yesterday. One thing is for sure. Had you told me 4th of July week would be really hot but insanely low attendance 10 years ago, I would have laughed in your face.

Disney is in no danger of going bankrupt

However these things are true:
1. They are not doing well
2. Stream is still a huge unknown
3. Parks are not doing well
4. Movie studios are a disaster
5. They DESPERATELY need new management

Now…can we be serious here?

My “suspicion”…and Remember I’m a quack with no experience who never guesses anything right…is that not only are the hotels not selling - which is fairly obvious as you’ve pointed out - but the real problem is off property.

Remember there are hundreds upon hundreds of hotels outside the arches that were built to put people in the Disney parks too. And my hunch is the price coupled with the planning difficulties has really gutted that segment of the customer base.

You can discount and fill the wdw rooms…not sure you can reverse the outside trend.

They just pushed it too far.
