Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Interesting. When I checked nothing other than the main two coasters in IoA had anything above 60 minutes. Kong does load/unload very slowly so that explains that wait time.

I saw that AK wait times went up a little too but MK is around the same.
Kong also seems to have a lot of problems, too.

I've noticed it goes down a lot while we are there and there is a b-mode where the outside portion is cut out and you start off right in the cave. We got in line one time for a 10 minute wait and ended up actually being there for 50 due to a breakdown that apparently took them down to one tram (we missed Hagrids at the end of the night because of that!!) so the times on that one seem to depend a lot on the operation.

... certainly not due to it being an amazing must-do attraction, even with an impressive AA at the end that doesn't need a strobe light. 😏

ABSOLUTELY ZERO!!

It’s wdw…people don’t check the 10 day and then book.

They just don’t want to pay for your happy place anymore

There are extremely high temperatures right now, above normal for FL in july. This could impact the parks in several ways.

1. APs and locals that can make snap decisions make up some percentage of daily guests that could impact the crowds at the parks if they chose to stay home.

2. Vacationers can choose to not go in the parks as long as they planned and chose to do pool time instead.

Obviously the biggest reason the parks are slow is because of pricing etc. My question was how much does the hotter than normal Temps impact park crowds. There is a small percentage difference, I'd guess, because of it.

Crowds are absolutely low - I think today may have been exacerbated by the (seen reports of multiple cases of Disney having to deal with heat related issues with guests) so might have kept guests away from the peak of the sun

Seeing some hot gher waits now and of course guests returning for the fireworks

I think its a mixture of the economy not being great (lots of people have been laid off), and that a lot of people are fed up with Disney now because they have put out complete trash for products over the past few years.

They lost $900M on the last 7 theatrical released and Indiana Jones and the "let's destroy a beloved character and replace him with a strong woman " is going to flop as well.

The truck hasn't gone through the outdoor portion since at least February of this year. I rode it and went through that part first weekend of February and haven't seen it since. Last time I rode it (June), the audio was out of sync with what was happening on the screens. Then it broke down in the room with the Kong animatronic and I got to see him "reset".

I also agree with your previous post that wait times at Universal fluctuate really hard, more so than at Disney. I have Express after 4 with my AP so I usually hit up the parks around that timeframe and the waits just drop really hard (minus the two big coasters of course).

And I see what you did there ;)

Disney: "We are experiencing record high crowds! This cant just be environmental/cultural conditions, the guests must LOVE us... See? We don't need to build any new attractions and people will still come!"

Also Disney: "We are experiencing record low crowds... clearly it's just the economy and nothing we did... we need to tighten our belt and cut spending on any new attractions."
…yep…Dutch door

The only viable excuse for “shockingly low” crowds is a huge drop in advance bookings…
Disney knew this…they just didn’t announce it.

No more storm at Epcot when I arrived at about 8pm. Entrance was busy, about 15 to 20 deep to enter the tapstile and the west half all open..

But once in future world... It seemed pretty moderate.

I think the desires still there, just not at the current prices. I’ve got the Disney itch and looked again just last night and even with the “up to 35% off” offer, the cheapest room at POFQ (for Dec 3-10) was $305 a night. With tickets for the 2 of us it was over $3600 for the week, add another $700 for flights, and a couple hundred a day for food, drinks, etc and it’s a $6000 week.

Needless to say I didn’t book it and started looking at other options, likely another cruise.

Well also we know that a few days back Magic Kingdom was sold out on July 4th for all types of tickets. And yet here we are...

I think the “sold out” was a result of staffing rather than tickets sold. I think they looked at the forecast last week and just decided to cut way back on staffing and call it sold out.

What can you get in Las Vegas for $305?

If you’re gonna call someone a “fool”…please do some research on who goes to wdw, the demographic mix, and how long the lead time on travel to wdw is…

The only viable excuse for “shockingly low” crowds is a huge drop in advance bookings…
Disney knew this…they just didn’t announce it.

Did I ever state that wdw is seeing very low attendance solely because of the extra heat?

I was asking how much more are the crowds dipping because of the extra heat. It's a not an insignificant number.

Excalibur is $59 a night that week, most the nice hotels are around $125, even Bellagio would only be $243 a night.

Vegas prices itself accordingly to sell out though, we know we’ll make it back in other ways, it seems WDW would rather leave a room empty rather than offer steep discounts.

Our last trip I paid just under $350 a night for POFQ, with the “up to 35% off” offer I was expecting $250 or less, I should have known better.

Maybe. Still seems like they could have just let it continue to sell. Honestly how many last minute bookings would they have gotten? I guess we'll never know now 🙂

It is a bit cheaper other times of year - we are going end of August and POR is $200.25/night for Riverview 5 sleeper

$305 after the discount for a moderate is kinda nuts

I‘d pay that in a second, we’ll be in Norway on the Disney Dream at the end of August though, not a bad consolation prize.

We love WDW but when a week at WDW is (nearly) as much as a week in Europe it’s a hard no for us.

We will be putting that to the test next year - early stages of a Europe trip for next August (though looking to do 3 weeks)

This will be our fourth trip to Europe, our first was in 2016, we loved our “once in a lifetime trip” so much we keep going back.

We’re doing 17 days this time, 8 on the Dream and the rest split between London, Paris, and Oslo.
