Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Humidity wise it's not the same. It's still hot regardless.

For that matter where I live the few point is 70 degrees and the temp today is a couple of degrees colder than Orlando.

My point is as much as everyone says it's too hot in Orlando, it's almost as hot and humid in most places in the summer.

"I don't think it's too bad so I don't think it's too bad for everyone else."

We were in MK all day yesterday. We have been in the parks countless times in the summer when it was just as hot as it was yesterday. And it was crazy full on many of those days.

Yesterday was not full, especially for the day before July 4th. In the afternoon we did standby for 7DMT because it was only 30 minutes. The walkways were easy to get through. A lot of attractions at that time were 10 to 15 minutes. We went to Starbucks and went right to the counter to order. I don’t think that ever happened before. There was literally zero wait. Walking through the Emporium was also easy to do.

My wife has said that she is seeing things from a reservations perspective that just isn’t typical. DVC room availability has been very favorable. Getting 2 nights at Riviera literally a week prior to the trip has been almost impossible before. She said that there is room availability everywhere.

Look, I am way more in the pixie dust category compared to others on these forums. But I’d you have been coming to the parks regularly the past 15 years, this year it is noticeable. You can’t miss it when you are walking around the parks.
Even crazier when you factor in last summer was light too with attendance and room occupancy, and now this summer seems substantially lower than then…

It’s fine to have preferences when it comes to temperatures and having no desire to go at certain times of year, but the heat is not a new issue in July in Florida. Some people like it - or don’t mind it, others would never entertain the idea of a summer trip. Nothing about that is new for 2024.
Yes but July 2024 is also not an anomaly when it comes to lower attendance this time of year.

Lower attendance during the summer has become a repeating pattern and it’s something we can expect to continue in the future.

That was never my point. I said I understand that many people can't handle the heat. My point was as much as people say it's hot in Orlando it's almost as hot in a lot of country
And I do my best to stay in air conditioning when it's 90+ degrees and high humidity at home too. I live in the south now, but where I grew up summers were like 75 degrees and no humidity - it was wonderful. The humid mess here, esp at 90+, is just not fun to be out in.

If I recall, Disney spent a lot of time and effort to entice people to not go in the summer but come other times of the year to even out crowds.

It worked and we're seeing that now. This has been a slow moving trend. COVID may have accelerated it even more with parents increased inclination to take kids out of school.

today has a heat advisory for the area, as a long time FL resident, I cannot say I ever recall having a 'heat advisory' before last year. Maybe heat advisories just became thing a last year?

There is zero comparison between Vegas and Orlando in the summer. For reference, the current dew point in Vegas is 31 (F) degrees and it is 75 (F) in Orlando.
Have you been to Vegas in the summer? When it gets over 100° is it every bit as miserable as central FL even with the low humidity. When you walk outside it feels like when you are baking something and open the oven with your face close to it. There have been times in Vegas where I literally couldn't hold the steering wheel after being parked for lunch.

There absolutely is a comparison. The main difference between central FL and Vegas is that in central FL you know you are sweating like a pig because your shirt is soaked but in Vegas your sweat evaporates. Plus, the summer sun is stronger in Vegas with the altitude and sun angle.

Big difference between Sin City and WDW which we enjoy going during the year even in the hot summer. Both areas are hot and hot however in Vegas I'm not walking what seem for miles, standing long periods in line somewhere to get food, drink, ride a coaster etc like in WDW. The Strip is where you can fry sunny side up eggs on the sidewalk but I'm getting from Point A to point B to the frosty cold AC of the show, casino, my favorite sports book venue , dining and drinks , hotel etc. Last I heard was there an outdoor theme park in Vegas?
