And I do! Which is exactly why I shake my head at those people who only goto WDW over and over....You could say the same thing to people on this board for whom every vacation has to involve a Disney product in some way.
I bet you'd find the DCL cruisers are not as exclusive as the WDW folks are... the DCL people will often be park people too... but you won't find the inverse as true. Because of the masses that have convinced themselves only WDW can scratch their itch.Or the people who have taken the same DCL cruise route over and over again.
And I'm saying it's because people still like/want Disney... and many are just now realizing that WDW isn't the only way to get what they thought they loved about Disney. The reason DCL is being portrayed as a replacement for WDW trips is because people are saying as much.
I don't think everybody wants one type of vacation, as in they always go to the same place or eat at the same restaurant, but it's more about the style of vacation. If you're the type like me that wants to pack in multiple activities, shops, museums, etc. Lounging around a ship, eating and relaxing, that doesn't appeal to me personally.
I agree when you say 'everyone' - but let's focus in on the audience in question here... The WDW faithful... that's what we are largely talking about here. 'multiple activities, shops, museums, etc' is not what you get from a WDW vacation.. and we're talking about the people who insist they want a 'theme park vacation'...
My postulate is they really want a DISNEY vacation... and they think WDW is the best way to get that. Many never wanted to even TRY other things... shifts in the WDW experience in the last 10yrs have shaken those beliefs and more people are trying other things.. and learning WDW wasn't the only, or even necessarily the best way to get the stuff they associated with a Disney experience.
