Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Guess attendance is doing fine. The haters are not going to like this, but why are they here anyway?
We have Disney’s own recent financial numbers showing a drop, a succession of aggressive price discounts on rooms, tickets and dining plans, travel agents saying future bookings are the worst they can recall in recent memory, tons of hard to get reservations are easy to come by, and folks whose business requires them to gauge park attendance and crowd levels noting how soft things are.

September showed a 3.7% price increase compared to a year prior in consumer prices and inflation is high. The cheerleaders will say “it’s down from 9% last year!” While missing the point.

Non-essentials like travel and vacation are usually the first to go terms of expenses. Where does a trip to WDW fall in terms of monthly budgeting?

Add to this with any other of Disney’s problems? Some are in their control some are not.

I’m also amused by anecdotal evidence of “it’s packed” so therefor there is no attendance issue. Likely this is a multi-month process. A lot of signs have been pointed out in this very thread.

It’s possible that demand will remain high, it’s also possible that there are some rough times ahead.

This thread has been around for five months, and while people keep asserting that there are "attendance" problems, revenues are breaking records left and right.

How many more months will it be before we start to see actual signs of this "problem?"

They see the signs. There are lots of them. Some just chose to believe everything is always magical regardless and Bob thanks you for the support while he fixes things things go the wrong direction.

Gross or Net Revenues?

DIS ROCE is running about 4.2% compared to an industry average of 11%.

Translation: for every $100 spent,
DIS gets $104.20 back
Competition gets $111.00 back

Who is performing better?

I don't think there are many that just chose to believe everything is great. Nearly all of us see problems. The difference is the magnitude and solutions.

Sure, attendance is down now and I bet the powers that be are absolutely concerned but the endless drum beat of "it's all over" is just as much BS now as it has always been. Concern is valid, predictions of the end times are not.

Regardless of what we all might think is going on, el_super does have a valid point. There has been record profit after record profit for the parks for a while now despite all the folks claiming the end is near. If that happens again this quarter and/or next quarter? What then? Is it still falling apart? What if it is down but not by much and streaming is in the black and/or studios start to improve? Still doom and gloom?

Record profit aside, the current debt of TWDC is $47 Billion.

Its a cycle companies like to ride. But the short sightedness is not unlike every other time this seems to happen.

Vegas did just "fine" as family attractions and themed entertainment boom of the 90s shuttered and were replaced by more casino space or decrepid nothings.

Now after two decades of riding that. Area 15, HHN and Spongebob Dark Rides are coming in to save hurting vegas as the business model reverts to what worked better long term.

Record profits while cutting corners does not equal people spending more than ever. Disney is doing better at saving money right now than they are earning it, because they have to.

Attendance has been lower at Disney World, it's in their Q3 earnings report. Do you have a link to record revenues at Disney World (cause this thread is not about all of the company)? Only thing I can find with breakdowns in a quick skim of the report is operating income, which is down at WDW.
