Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

And if you still took a vacation. A vacation where everyone enjoyed themselves, but it just wasn’t WDW that year, because everyone has already been several times?
Still a huge reach.

If people downsized or stayed closer to home this year…do you think it’s:

1. The price of Disney combined with their media failures/planning suckiness/negative pub?
2. Had to get a limo to Taylor or Bey?

…hmmm? 🤔

My personal truth is that if you derive value from a paying $30 on top of a $180 Ticket to have a less miserable experience, you're doing it wrong.
All subjective. My personal truth is if that if you are spending the money to go on a Disney vacation and complain about an extra $30 charge (which is almost the exact cost me and my youngest son paid for 2 value meals from Wendy’s for lunch this afternoon) you are either just complaining to complain or are doing it wrong

& if margins are that thing where it makes or breaks you… probably not best idea to be going & putting yourself in that potential financial burden

Wait are we seriously thinking Bob can blame Taylor Swift for the parks declines this year?

The post Covid travel surge is over. Those who have taken their trips to WDW have now experienced many of the unpopular changes as well as price hikes and just aren’t coming back as often. It’s just not as worth it to many like it used to be. It can also be seen in the record number of DVC resales. That along with things becoming stale with nothing big really on the horizon (minus Tiana and Moana’s water thing) isn’t going to help

What did you order at Wendy's for $30 for 2 people? According to their prices, the highest price combo meals (not value meal as you said you purchased) is appx $8. The value meals hover around $5 or less.

Those prices aren't right. A combo meal at wendys is between 11-15 dollars depending on sandwich. The prices in this picture are before tax.

I can see the Swift concert just as a representation of how everything has increased in price and salaries not keeping pace and any money saved up (for revenge travel) is gone

So a lot harder to spend $1,000 for the family to go to a concert and $6,000 for the family to go to Disney than in the past when it was $250 for the concert and $4,000 for Disney

And given other factors people are opting to put their money elsewhere so maybe it is $1,000 for the concert and $3,000 for a vacation closer to home

People have talked for years that Disney’s place in the proof of American Good Parent hierarchy would not last if there was an alternative. If teens are valuing a concert experience more than a WDW vacation, there’s your alternative. It would be stupid to dismiss what the kids are into these days more than Disney.

I’m already on record upthread that housing is competing for vacation dollars within younger families. Plus, International travel to the US has not recovered. And in previous discussions that people are out of sync from their normal Disney schedule and this is an off-year. Those are the largest drivers.

But enjoy your straw man that because I think it’s a viable *contributing* factor. American teen “currency” has changed, that I think it’s the primary reason Disney is being hurt so badly this year.

It is too expensive and too cheap. I’m not willing to pay $30 and deal with the hassle that G+ is, if it was simpler I would be fine with the current price, how about get rid of windows but you can’t get another G+ till you use your current one, or how about one LL on every ride in 1 parketc. However even I know that flexibility should cost more. Guess what, I would potentially pay that price on certain days even if it was 10x the cost. I’ve paid for a VIP tour before and found it worth while. However this current bury you head in your phone praying to get spots, no, I won’t pay for the privilege of doing that, I can do it my own way.

I’m not dismissing teen values…

I’m more disputing bagging a week trip for some over a concert for teen(s). I wish I wielded that kinda raw POWER in my teens

Not saying it can’t or doesn’t happen…just not to any sort of pattern blip impact on numbers…which was len’s original question?

True but there are a MASSIVE amount of people who take Disney trips who aren’t going to see Taylor Swift and never would. It may effect some but I don’t think enough to make a dent like they are seeing

Not even close.

This whole thought pattern is intriguing…
…but sorta seems along the “how can anyone choose NOT To buy their magic?!?” Kinda innuendo…

It’s like some primal instinct from hell for Disney fans 🤪

Wait I know what Bob can do…build the Main Street theater and hire Taylor Swift to perform daily! That way we aren’t the magic, she is! It’s Bob’s saving grace lol

I definitely see that…

And a lot of economic data is so skewed…
Today’s example: AMAZING JOBS AND WAGE report!!

But the markets fell. “Fear of interest rate hikes”…blah, blah, blah…

Or…just maybe…spending is still on the downswing?
Think?

Cause everything costs way too much…meaning more work and pay is required to pay for the same or less. That’s the quiet part squawk box won’t say out loud.

That ain’t good in the magic kingdom…at all.

Just using Swift as an example - it could be a concert or increased cost of dining out or increased cost of doing work to your home or increased cost of other vacations or increased cost of cars, etc

Just with everything going up people have to pick and choose more vs doing more different things

It wouldnt hurt!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Seriously though, I think that many of us are on the right track. There are simply people who either cant afford it, or believe that there isnt the value in it that there once was and will spend their money elsewhere or some combination of the two. Either way it isnt a good thing for Bob!! Marie
