Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Yesterday I checked to see how much a stay at Universal would be for Aug 23-27 at portofino since that would be comparable to my upcoming stay at the boardwalk. Hotel and tickets to the parks came out to $2800. My stay at the boardwalk is $2700, so I don't understand people saying wdw is so much more expensive .
That boardwalk stay doesn't include Genie+'or paid LL. Where as with Portofino your express pass is included. That's an easy $500 to $800 more for boardwalk

Not just express, unlimited express. Incredibly valuable benefit.

Also, I’ve stayed at both The Boardwalk and Portofino. I understand that it’s a comparison of a Deluxe Resort with a Premier Hotel, but in reality they’re leagues apart in quality.

I’ve just had a look for a seven night stay when we’re over late Sept / early Oct. Hotel only.

Portofino - £2698
Hard Rock - £2596
Royal Pacific - £2494

Boardwalk - £3822
Beach Club - £4396

We loved our stay at UO Hard Rock. Boardwalk and Beach way overpriced for what you are getting.

Agreed. Beach and Yacht Club are our preferred Disney resorts for proximity to International Gateway but all three Universal Premier hotels are far superior even if you don’t consider the price difference. Portofino actually happens to be my least favourite of the three.

Even Sapphire Falls is a much nicer hotel than Yacht and Beach and pretty incredible value. We’ve chosen to stay there instead of one of the Premier hotels for one of our trips this year - mainly because we love Strong Water Tavern. We’ll just buy express on the days we want it.

And once they do, now knowing what is out there and what else is available to see and do, Disney may not become the easy answer for the family vacations year after year. I'm not saying people wont ever go back to Disney, but it may be a once in a while trip in between other options. Marie
Totally agree here. Had a friend who brought her young Disney aged boys and had a great time with them. Then this year they cruised because it was cheaper and less planning. They loved it. I’m sure they will do cruises from now on..

Unless you just booked that Boardwalk stay, your comparison isn’t apples to apples. Try looking out 6 months at both and see what the price is. Maybe Boardwalk is cheaper, but you have to do a fair comparison, not “I already booked 6 months ago but let me see what Uni offers a month from now”.

I just priced out packages for two adults.

As you note, Portifino Bay came out to about $2800.

But the Boardwalk came out to $3700, including 5 days of tickets and park hopping (I.e. same as what is offered by the Universal package).

The least expensive “room only” rate currently available for those nights at the Boardwalk came to $2479. That’s without any tickets.

Of course, a stay at a Universal premier hotel includes the best theme park perk - unlimited Express Pass.

Perhaps you can explain how you got $2700 for the Boardwalk with theme park tickets?

Thanks!

Personal truth is an oxymoron.
If my personal truth says 2+2=5
Your personal truth says 2+2=3

Neither is true.

PS.. Marketing bastardized the meaning of an essential word .
Oh no doubt…

One of my frequent annoying points is that TWDC pushed “experience” very purposefully.

They’re good with data/research.

“Price” triggers a response that leads to consideration of value

“Experience” was pushed to kill that psychological switch.

It’s carte Blanche to rip you off…

Not saying we all don’t allow it. We do. But I get disputed that it’s a thing. Of course it is.
