Both our phones arrived on Friday which was also the day we were notified that they shipped. LOL! Still no case to put them in which is scary as hell. I'm terrible about dropping phones. Lovin' the phone. Now if Lifeproof would hurry with the cases!

I have two Otterbox Defender cases sitting waiting for phones to put in them. They shipped very quickly.

I got the shipped e-mail earlier today! It's in Memphis now and should be here by 3pm Monday. :D I'm so glad it's coming before we go to WDW.

I gotta figure out a case too. I want something that can protect it like the Defender but without the bulkiness. :p I've looked at a lot of nice ones online, but many of them don't come with a holster/belt clip, which I need (hate phones in my pocket). I may just wind up with another Defender for the time being.

I know this is an iOS 6 post, but whatev.

I'm really enjoying the latest update. The GPS is awesome. The ability to add stuff to Facebook without opening the Facebook app is very convenient. I love the shared photo streams. Also, now that I can facetime without Wi-Fi, today I was able to give my niece and nephew a complete tour of Carsland while they sat on their couch across the country.

Lastly, I am addicted to making panoramas.

You don't need an iPhone to do that.

Bu that is cool!

I prefer 360 panorma still - way more features and capabilities. The iphone feature forces the user to make the clean straight sweep vs letting software fix it all up.

I had a Dedender on my IPhone 4. It did its job protecting the phone from drops but it wasn't an overall good case. The flap on bottom never sealed. The outer cover never fit snug. The screen looked like garbage. The Coast Guard guy who rented our house showed us the Lifeproof case. It's waaaaay better. Completely seals the phone...you can swim with it. As much as a Defender costs, I'd rather put that $$ into the better case. Neither are cheap. Maybe I'll pick up a couple Defenders then resell them once the Lifeproof ones come out.

I did find I had to occasionally run my Defender [without the phone in it] through the dishwasher to clean it up a bit. My son keeps his phone in his pocket and after two years the outer rubber is in very rough shape but still fits snuggly, mine is on a belt clip and is a perfect fit. It's not waterproof at all, so if that's an issue, then go with Lifeproof for sure! The Defender for the iPhone 5 is even worse as far as waterproofing, it has openings for the camera/flash and charger/earphones that are not sealed at all. Since I'm never going swimming with it the Defender is fine for me, but certainly not for someone who would.

My phone was delivered on Friday at 2PM! :D Very disappointed that the Apple store had NO accessories. Maybe I would have known this if I'd paid more attention to the news/blogs, but there were no cases, screen protectors, car chargers or extra charge cords in stock. I got screen protectors from Verizon and the iPhone is hanging out in an old iPod sock until my Speck Candyshell case is delivered mid-week (I hope!). Add me to the list of people that will be very nervous until my case comes.

But other than that...LOVE the phone! :)

i can't stand cases that make the phone huge... part of the lure of the phone is it's size. Making it huge via case kind of defeats that :)

The speck cases that wrap around to the front fully are about the extent of my tolerance of extra 'girth'

I used Otterbox Defender cases for years thanks to Monty's recommendation, and always felt like my phone was completely safe. But with that case on my phone wouldn't fit in any docks and its a huge pain to get that particular case on and off. Also, there was no way in heck the phone could fit in my pocket with an Otterbox on it. I was having to take a purse to theme parks just to hold the phone when I prefer to go empty-handed. So now I'm using a $3 case that offers very little protection. There is no happy medium between protection and functionality.

I recently shed the little plastic case I have had on my iPhone 4S and there is something about holding the phone that I am really enjoying. There is something about the texture of holding the device that just feels better than some big plastic wrap.

That's the other thing I liked about the Lifeproof, it wasn't as much bulk. The waterproof capabilities are nice not just for swimming. I think of how many times I've been standing over the sink doing dishes when the phone rings (we have no house phone) so wet hands touching the phone then standing there holding it with my shoulder while I continue washing... Ugh! Husband takes his out on his boat fishing. He actually lost his iPhone prior to his 4 to the bottom of the Toledo Bend reservoir. He forgot if was laying on the deck then took off across the lake at 60 mph. I want him to have a Lifeproof case plus a good flotation leash of some kind. The fishies don't need another stinkin' iPhone from him. LOL!

We leave for our cruise getaway Wednesday evening. I still have a bag to sew (in addition to cleaning the house, packing, etc). I'm thinking I can download a quick pattern for an iPhone pouch then modify the length for the 5. At least that's something to help, right?

**Sigh**

I pre-ordered two 64GB iPhones [black] andgot the email that they'd shipped. The tracking said UPS had delivered them last Thursday at 0931... In Kingston [I'm in Ottawa, about an hour's drive away]. I figured they'd have them in store Friday for sure. No call or email came. Today I stopped by the store to inquire after them and was told that they should be delivered there on TUESDAY!

Since I'm headed to WDW on Thursday, I'm not terribly happy... Not much I can do, sale-day stock is all already sold and it'll be weeks before most stores get more stock.

Monty - what was all this ship to store nonsense to start with? Why not ship to you?
Apple was only shipping direct for unlocked iPhones. I'm getting mine through Rogers for less than half the price, but that means it goes to the store.

What I didn't know what the store closest to me is a "Rogers' Affiliate" store and they had all their phones for Ontario shipped to their warehouse in Kingston and then are just delivering to their stores on their regular delivery runs... So UPS express shipping to their warehouse and then just toss it on the once-a-week regular run! The regular Rogers store that is actually closer to my house isn't getting any phones that were pre-ordered, because they recently moved [three months ago] and aren't in the system yet so they didn't show up as a delivery option.

Every year Rogers has new issues with the iPhone rush. Always have network/server problems on release day and everything that can go wrong seems to. This time was the first time I didn't line up at the Apple Store and get it same-day [well, last year I didn't bother getting the 4S at all]. I honestly thought pre-ordering made more sense than wasting a day's holiday.

EDIT: and no providers or Apple stores in Canada are allowed to let you leave the store without the phone being activated locked to a provider. The only way to get an unlocked phone is through Apple and delivered to your home. The trouble is, rumour has it no providers are selling micro-SIMs for unlocked phones yet...

I went looking for a case today. Visited Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile, Radio Shack, Walmart, AT&T, etc. The only stuff in stores right now other than basic flimsy cases are Otterbox Defenders. I imagine I'll just wind up getting one tomorrow. I did see that Lifeproof sells a separate belt clip for its current 4/4S cases, which is nice… I didn't know that before. I think I'll get one in a few months when all the stuff's out, but I need something durable now and the Defender is the only thing for sale that can do the job right.

We went to the AT&T store near us. It's a tiny little store. Anywhoo, they had Speck cases for $38 each & that was it. We leave Wednesday evening for a cruise so while we're gone the cell phones will be turned off. Maybe by the time we get back there will be more available. Or, I should say, when we get back I'll have time to run around Houston hunting for stuff. LOL! We did get insurance on the phones just in case.

Monty, that stinks! I'd be livid. Kinda defeats the purpose of doing the pre-order and all. Poor you! I'm sorry! :(

Yesterday I checked my local Apple store again for iPhone 5 accessories - still nothing. The employee said she had "no idea" when they were coming in and suggested I try Target, Best Buy or AT&T for options. o_O They really don't seem to care about getting accessories out to their users. I'm not impressed.

I totally agree. I'm coming from a DROID X, which is a little wider than the iPhone...but I feel like the depth of the iPhone is about half that of the X, which is somewhat thrilling to me. When I went to my Verizon store to get screen protectors they had an Otterbox Defender that the guy was trying hard to sell to me, telling me that with the Otterbox on my iPhone I would be "used to it" coming from my Droid. o_O Eh, no thanks. An Apple store employee I talked to last week specifically recommended the Speck Candyshell cases, telling me he likes the ones that wrap around the front a bit since if you drop the phone screen-side down, the case absorbs most of the impact. Makes sense to me...but I agree with you, I don't want to go bigger than a Speck case.
