Patience on the cases... It's only a few days! If you wanted a fully developed ecosystem why did you buy the phone on first day of availability??![]()
There is basically no way that can happen, because Apple don't release the dimensions to the case manufactures until launch day. First week of October is about the earliest that the main suppliers are going to be ready.1. Only a few days yes, but I want this phone to stay in good shape for at least 2 years, and I'm paranoid.
2. I bought it on the first day because I thought Apple would be ready with cases...I even asked at the store earlier than week and was assured by 2 employees that they would be ready to go. It was naive of my to believe them, I guess.
Because my home key on my 4 was shot. I do think Apple could've been better prepared. At the very LEAST they should've had the 30 pin converter things ready. Apple's website says they aren't shipping those until October.Patience on the cases... It's only a few days! Actually, I had my Otterbox Defender iPhone 5 cases delivered before launch day. There is basically no way that can happen, because Apple don't release the dimensions to the case manufactures until launch day. First week of October is about the earliest that the main suppliers are going to be ready.

Yep I believe that some of the manufacturers threw the dice and gambled on the leaked info. They were not given the details from Apple until the launch day.Actually, I had my Otterbox Defender iPhone 5 cases delivered before launch day.
Seems like an incredibly expensive gamble, if they got it wrong they'd be on the hook for an awful lot of money. I can't imagine their margins are that strong... Maybe Otterbox has an insider in Cupertino?Yep I believe that some of the manufacturers threw the dice and gambled on the leaked info. They were not given the details from Apple until the launch day.
I was reading an interesting article about the whole process at http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-5...-the-iphone-5-sent-one-case-maker-scrambling/Seems like an incredibly expensive gamble, if they got it wrong they'd be on the hook for an awful lot of money. Yeah I think it all depends on where and how it is being made. The Cnet article on Incase talks about how they took the plans from the Sep 15 launch day, did some tweeks, and then got it fired off to China. They are talking about first week of Oct for delivery. I assume if things were made in the USA and were already close to be finalized it could be quicker.I just checked, the iPhone 5 schematics were released on the 15th of September. Assuming a fairly rapid turnaround from already-drawn concepts to tooling for manufacture [same-day or overnight], they could have shipped initial units to arrive on time. When I ordered, it was a "pre-order" and they didn't say when it would be shipped. Plastic and silicon injection molding is a fairly fast process once the molds are cast.
