Indiana Jones 5 Now Pushed Back to 2021

Can someone explain this to me? Where did this Sound of Freedom movie come from? I had never heard of it until I went to look at the box office numbers for July 4th, but it debuted yesterday (very odd timing) and beat Indy by $3 Million.

I haven't seen advertising for Sound of Freedom, or if I did I tuned it out because it seems a rather serious and dark toned movie, which I rarely like. (I'm more of a Barbie person, especially in summer). And I've never heard of Angel Studios. And in only 2,600 theaters?

Wow. Okay. That makes sense I'd never heard of it until today, as I'm not a regular church-goer and often these independent religious films get word of mouth going in American churches. I get it now, but I had no idea what the movie was a few hours ago.

Fascinating, really. Good for them for getting this movie produced and out there and beating Indy 5 at the box office.

David vs. Goliath, to continue the religious theme.

Saw it this weekend. It is an extremely enjoyable film. It’s an Indiana Jones movie and contains everything that it needs to contain to be an Indiana Jones movie. Action. Adventure. Great chase sequences. Suspense. An amazing John Williams score. Etc. etc. The previous one was horrendous but this one redeems the franchise. I don’t understand the hatred or the gloating from all the usual suspects but then again, I don’t understand the hatred and the gloating from all the usual suspects on any number of threads here.

I enjoyed the last Indy film. It misses the humor and charm of original films and Spielberg’s camera. Plays as a straight action adventure movie and it’s fun… but I wish we had the humor and there aren’t any memorable moments and I think that’s why it only got the b+ score.

look at mission impossible…. Getting crazy reviews. Tracking for a huge opening.
Disney looks at Indy franchise and says, “let’s get phoebe waller-bridge to bring in the girls and young adults and then give her the franchise”. What??? Why?
she was solid but she doesn’t sell tickets.

Because Cruise is an action star who 1) had a massive star vehicle hit last year and 2) does his own crazy stunts which have become his trademark.

Pratt is amusing and has a glibness that’s appealing. But a period action piece doesn’t make sense.

The reason M:I is going to do gangbusters is in large part because Cruise has figured out how to sell these pictures via their set pieces. It’s smart and shows he’s a smart entertainer, but unfortunately for theater owners there’s only one of him and there’s fifty two weeks in a year.

This movie is going to be almost three hours long. That worked for Avatar. We’ll see how it works here, particularly since this is “part one” and apparently there will be no resolution at the end.

Not to keep discussing MI and Cruise, but he is 61 as of the 3rd. So how many more of these "I'm gonna do my own stunts" movies does he have left in him. Its already starting to get hard to find insurance companies willing to insure his films when he does his own stunts. So I have a feeling after MI:8 he is probably going to go cut back on the action movies since he refuses to use a stunt double.

Off the top of my head I don’t recall laugh out loud moments from the previous films either. I said it had plenty of humor. Wasn’t talking about laugh out loud moments. Agreed…I saw this yesterday…I also don’t understand the harsher critic reviews…I rewatched the other Indiana Jones films to get hyped and it fits right in with what you expect from Indiana Jones…. As far as the hatred here…none of those that are complaining watched the movie…like always

I enjoyed the film, I’m also 50…. The 20-30 year olds didn’t show up.

I noticed most of the comedy you remember is from The Last Crusade…which focused more on humor….I would say the humor in this one fit in with the first 2 however

Having just watched all the Indiana Jones movies…. They all had humor bits in them…. but the only 1 I found with laugh out loud moments was The Last Crusade
